Description
If you're just going to comment on everything YOU think is wrong then move on. I am not a Sabres fan or anything, just really interested in their "up-and-coming" ness. Personally, I think if you have a Dahlin level player under contract for another year at 6 mil, you should try to win in that year. They'd have honestly the best depth in the NHL. Also, James Reimer is better than you think 😎.

I know. No one outside of St. Louis realizes how good he actually is. You guys seriously pulled off a heist with that one.

He’s gotta be top 3 underrated players in the league right now. He’s the best player on our team and on a very team friendly contract for 2 more years

I don't think they would necessarily add too much value. I feel like Scotty has been injured too much and needs a change of scenery. Rosen is the one I think they'd be hesitant to pull the trigger on. Great depth guy and even better locker room lloyd! Bill Armstrong has really had some finds in his tenure.

Yes, I totally agree!!! You guys should try to trade him imo. Cap-strapped era of hockey gives guys like Buch such incredible value. Especially if GMBA decides to retain some money.

It didn't load, but I am referring to your recent armchair gm post. You're a delusional person if you think those things could happen.

Sure, man. Two small okay prospects and a few mid picks is not getting anyone near Buch. And if you actually imagine this is the best offer the Blues could get for him, maybe spend less time accusing others of delusion.

I’m a believer in that as well. Hard to win a trade when you’re trading a player of his caliber but I think we should try and get an A prospect, earliish 1st in this draft, and another first/second/prospect for him at the draft. I’m thinking teams like Washington, Buffalo, Penguins, or Carolina could be a good match

I don't think that the fit is there between the Kings and the Sabres -- not just for Olofsson, but for just about anyone on the Sabres roster. Our primary needs are at LhD and goaltender. None of the Sabres top 3 lefties are likely to be on the market, and I don't think that UPL is our answer in goal. We have Arvidsson, Fiala, Iafallo, Kempe, Moore and Vilardi on the wing, so Olofsson is redundant, and Kupari can play center or RW (where we aren't deep). The value is probably right, though.

They’ll keep Kupari. He’s cheaper.

#1 priority is a goalie. Not a depth player

If and when we move Olofsson, I'd just be looking for the best pick we can or getting a D prospect. Kupari is solid but we have so many young wingers that deserve a shot in our organization. Kulich, Rosen, and Savoie are all banging on the door of the NHL and all have better floors and ceilings than Kupari. Interesting STL trade. I think Buchnevich would be a great add. No need for Perunovich, Ryan Johnson is going to fill that 3 LHD spot better because he's much more of a two-way guy. If depth is what you are going for, I'd keep Lyubushkin. Like you said he's a solid 3rd pair guy.

Wow, did I write this?
Very concise and perfect road map for the future, keep adding prospects through the draft.
If this is the best return for Olofsson, then Buffalo should keep him, there will be teams who will want to add goals at the TDL.

Only problem with keeping him is he will not get games in Buffalo unless an injury occurs. A healthy scratch will not net much of anything. If we deal him in the offseason, his value will be at its highest. I'd expect something like a 3rd + B prospect or a depth forward/D and a 5th or so. If we retained, which is unlikely given the Sabres' owners, we could probably net a 2nd and maybe a long-shot prospect

Let's agree to disagree on the return the Sabres will get from trading Olofsson and how much ice time he will get next year.
If Matt Moulson could return 2 seconds, Olofsson should return more than a third and a "B" prospect.
Two years ago all Sabre fans thought the Sabres would need to pay to move Ristolainen, he returned more than Reinhart!

He has a quick release and an accurate shot aiming for the corners and not the goalies crest.
He has finally shed that PP specialist label as only 4 of his 28 goals were on the PP last year.
ONLY 17 NHL forwards scored faster than his 1.6 goals/60 or had more EV goals and only 55 forwards scored more than his 28 goals.
He scored 28 goals last year, more then Boeser (18 goals, $6,650,000) or Debrincat (27 goals, $6,400,000 an RFA with a $9,000,000 QA) at at much lower salary ($4,750,000).
Over the past three seasons he has scored 1.159 goals/60, faster than Malkin, Marner or Eichel.
I really like Girgensons and Jost, but unless they take a pay cut, it is hard to see the Sabres paying them last years salary for their 10 and 7 goals.
He played most of the season with forwards who were not noted for their defense, put him on the line with Okposo and Jost/Krebs/Girgensons he will find the empty spaces to score goals .

Personally I'd rather get what asset(s) we can from trading Olofsson and opening up an opportunity for one of our exciting young prospects. Plus VO likely wants to move on, so trading him to give him better opportunity is the right thing to do
