Description
Hilarious that the Jets think they can deal PLD, Scheif, Helly and not rebuild, but here’s my attempt at making that happen.

Feel free to roast these deals in the comments. I definitely included some jets bias on the BUF and CAR deals.

Canes fans will hate this deal as scheifele isn’t good defensively, but they acquire Patches last year to improve scoring. They need to score more and scheifele is a guy who can score a ton. Canes can use him as a rental, or they can sign him to an extension. Extension is more likely due to giving up Jarvis. If Jarvis is 100000% untouchable, can make a deal around other pieces. If I’m WPG I’m going after jarvis.

Take out Vilardi and Arvidsson and the Kings would do it.

Fiala was in the exact same situation as PLD was last summer, and he was traded (along with an extension) for a 1st and a B+ defensive prospect (Brock Faber).

Once again, Yzerman isn't targeting Neal Pionk from Winnipeg, He wants Dmen 6'2" and above even 6'0" like Pionk are a no go.

Fair enough. Just used DET as a placeholder. Anywhere for a 2nd.

Keep seeing the fiala comparison. Don’t really understand it because Horvat got more this year and is more of a comparable. Of course he was producing more, but a better comparable than fiala. Plus I forsee a bit of a bidding war on PLD. Kings may want to secure their future at C.

I think he just goes the FA front, Some have even linked Dumba to us, So we shall see in the next 16 days or so.

Oops Dumba is 6'0" but he's a free asset.

The Islanders got half a season of "cheap" Horvat in addition to the extension. He was also a pending UFA, not a pending RFA. I'm not sure how that's comparable to PLD's situation at all.

Fiala was a arbitration-eligible RFA whose rights were owned by a team that everyone knew couldn't re-sign him. In Minnesota's case it was due to cap space. In Winnipeg's case it is due to the player not wanting to be there. Their situations are identical. Fiala also didn't have a reputation of being a disgruntled player.

The Kings needs have nothing to do with PLD's trade value.

Scheifele will not be a Hurricane.

You mention Carolina getting Patches last summer - if you want to do a similar value deal then I think DW says yes. And yes, I agree that is not going to happen, which is why he is staying in WPG.

Not quite the same situation. Did Fiala demand a trade from two teams? Also, he’s a wing whereas PLD is a center with more value.

Regardless, PLD is a diva. Any team giving him 8 years is making a massive mistake. Unless it’s MTL.

I don't put much emphasis on the reason of their departures. Just that prior to the trade, the departure from their current teams was imminent and guaranteed, and the entire league knew it.

I strongly disagree, Pionk to Detroit makes a TON of sense. To set a limit on player size is just ridiculous... sure, bigger the better IF they can play as well, but skill over size wins every time... Pionk for a 2nd is fair, a good fit and works for both teams.

Well, you're right about Canes fans hating this deal. This is a terrible deal for the Canes and they would never do it. Jarvy ain't going anywhere.

Yeah this deal is pretty much DOA. I'm not very high on any of the Winnipeg assets these days. I think Waddell will definitely sniff out the situation for sure, but I don't think there is a deal to be made.

You keep seeing this comparison because Fiala scored a point a game this past season, exactly as Horvat did, and for the second season in a row -- a level Horvat has never reached before and Dubois has never reached at all. And the moment that there's a "bidding war" on Dubois, Los Angeles will bow out just like they did from the "bidding war" that erupted over Jakob Chychrun -- who got, as I recall, far less than the offers people were making for him on CapFriendly that look just like the offers people are making on CF now for Dubois. And Chychrun was under team control at a team-friendly price for a couple more seasons, too.
