Im really not sure his trade value is much higher than Granlund's. There would have to be quite a bit of interest in him to drive up the price

Since Ducks have cap they should jump at this trade. Sure they take on two years of Granlund, but that might be better than four years of Gibson. Plus they still have lots of cap to sign a better goalie than Jarry.

Yep could be. Granlund almost has to gone in a trade if the Pens want an expensive name goalie. You could say your trade a Granlund...and a second rounder because of his cap. Then Gibson for a 1st and DeSmith. That sound very reasonable if Pens like Gibson.

Not sure Gibson is a fit in PIT anymore, contract is too high and Dubas always goes with a two goalie shared role type thing… doubt pit will be acquiring a true #1 esp one that aging and who has declining numbers, albeit on an awful team

Counter argument is Dubas tried to acquire him last off-season for Toronto. It's known he is high on Gibson.

If John Gibson really does want to move on, and to a team whose arc is as clearly downward as Anaheim's is upward, then I would accept this offer as the Anaheim GM. And then, because Boston stalwarts seem to feel some cap pressure and are constantly posting ACGMs trading Linus Ullmark to Los Angeles for two developing players, I'd offer the Bruins their seconds back and, according to the enlightened CapFriendly fanbases of virtually all other teams, we'd be making out like bandits on both ends.

I don't entirely disagree with that. I think Anaheim's d-core is currently at an AHL level. However we are also only 1 year removed from Granlund having a 64 point season. I think it is very difficult to judge Gibson's value right now. Imo the best examples I can find are Smith to Calgary and Bishop to LA. However both goalies had the numbers to back up their perceived value. Can we say that about

Honestly, we've been hearing Gibson is as good as gone rumors for 5 years. Until it actually happens, it's not happening. A Google search will show you how long we've been putting up with this ****.
