As bad as the trades are (from both sides), the thought of Sutter as GM is really poor one. GMs have to work. And as we saw with the aging Sutter with the Flames, "I'm just going through the motions, I rather be on my ranch." But IMO, Dubas should not be resigned.......he has not been a good GM.

Unless the Flyers can flip Marner for more than they could for TK and Laughton they shouldn’t even think about this trade. They are starting a rebuild and Marner doesn’t help that at all

Marner is an elite talent and if you think you can lock him up long term next season, you absolutely do this even if in a rebuild. Elite players are very hard to find.

The rebuild is going to take 3 ish years if they decide to tear it down. If they don’t get picks and prospects back for their trade chips like they would do in this trade then the rebuild is going to take 5+ years and at that point Marner doesn’t fit the timeline. This is about doing it right and this trade isn’t doing it right and besides they are already said they aren’t in the market for any big names this offseason lol

There is doing it right and there is taking a gift when it's given to you. The chances of a return from TK and Laughton becoming a top 5 producer in the league. Marner would speed up the rebuild not slow it down. We really aren't that far away if we can get our D sorted out and if Coots can actually play.

WPG laughs once again at the LAFFS offers for a #1 Center who is FROM ONTARIO! A couple of crap picks for a #1 Center??? Wow. Laffs fans really must stop. Stop calling WPG. We don't want any of your players or picks. "MAYBE" Nylander for Scheifele

We need 3 new top 4 defenseman and probably 2 more star forwards even if we get Marner. Where do you see all of those guys coming from? Even if we get 1 gift we still need 4-5 more within the next 3-5 years to even be able to use Marner in his prime. It’s not going to happen, the team is further away than you think. They are publicly rebuilding for a reason, retooling rarely works out well and just prolongs a rebuild which is what they have done the last 3 years

You seem to be under the impression that we are going to get a super high pick for TK if we were to trade him, we won't. The best case scenario is you might get another Farabee or York, you aren't getting a star from their return.

That Jenner trade is straight-up insulting. If you're looking for a center, that probably gets you Roslovic.

50-60 pt all situations C and Captain getting paid $3.75 million for 3 more years is worth vastly more than 2 2nd round picks, especially in the cap era.

You're looking at a Brandon Hagel like return at minimum

I would want a top 20 pick for TK realistically it will be between 15-20 but in this draft that could get u a really good player maybe not a star but who knows. Marner doesn’t fit the rebuild timeline so it doesn’t matter anyway. Marner doesn’t jumpstart it he delays it. They need to be bad the next few years for the high picks and Marner won’t allow them to do that

They aren't going to be bad if Coots is healthy. The will finish probably 10th-15th worst next year. It's gonna be the same thing as when Hextall tried to rebuild where we don't get those top tier picks. We need stars.

If Coots is healthy and if he can get back to his normal self. If Atkinson is healthy and if he can get back to his normal self. If nobody needs major surgery in offseason (Farabee) and if they can come back and play well. That’s a lot of ifs for a team who should be rebuilding the right way. I don’t want them to finish barely outside the playoffs I want them to suck for a few years so they can build a real contender. I’m tired of them being mediocre which they have been for over a decade, they need to rebuild correctly

Except it's not a lot of ifs...it was a lot of ifs last year but Coots has already been on the ice, Atkinson says he's ready and Farabee doesn't need surgery this year so chances are we are a much better/deeper team and not starting a pile of AHLers every night

COOTS WAS ON THE ICE A WEEK BEFORE TRAINING CAMP LAST YEAR LMAO. On the real tho this team has no luck with injuries so something is bound to happen to a few of them. This team is good enough to be in a playoff hunt when fully healthy but that isn’t good enough. Marner would help them probably be a first round exit that’s still not good enough and we still don’t have 3 new top 4 defenseman and 2 more 1st line forward stars that will help us win a cup. Everyone wants to win immediately but this team is years away from seriously competing and Marner will probably be out his prime by then

I would argue that superstars that play his style, don't really lose their prime. Look at Giroux still putting up ppg numbers.

And yet even with Giroux the team was still multiple pieces away from really contending aside from the fluky bubble in 2019. The only way to get multiple stars on ur team is to get lucky or draft well. The flyers have never been lucky in their entire history lol so the draft is the only way
