Description
First who'll be drafted in MTL? With the 5th overall will they go for Smith, Leonard, Reinbacher, or Barlow?? I'll take Smith out of the equation since I think he'll go at 3 or 4. Ryan Leonard would be my second choice.

Trades are always controversial; if you'r enot happy with the info here, I'm sorry but that's my personal vision. Let me know if something would or could be done better than what was proposed.

ANyone wanting to hit the PLD trade thinking WIN can get better elsewhere, refrain.. I've done simulation with the FLA 1st pick instead of two 2nd rounds with different prospects.. No one is ever happy. All I can say is that if WIN wants something in return, they need to move him now since the arbitration may end up costing more than they thought, AND if that's the case they'll need to move other valuable players for a guy who'll leave in a year, OR be unable to match the arbitration offer and have him go UFA and lose him for absolutely nothing which could be the worst scenario for WIN.

Lafrenière trade is IF and only IF Gorton can convince MYR that he'll be better off on a new team and that Barron can provide some good Dman line for them next year and a low cost. THeodore trade bascially is to aleviate cap space in Vegas, get a good veteran for one year; BUT I could also go for a Marchessault move instead if he agrees to lift his M-NTC clause. Would essentially keep the same options from MTL since Vegas need someone to put off the books at low cost, or potentially trade him if he's able to play.

MTL
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [Droits de RFA]
Détails additionnels:
Given the situation, Dubois may get a 2st in return; but here I give 2X2nd round picks, a seasoned veteran and two prospects.
May not be liked by WIN fans, but in all, Chev is losing the upper hand on Dubois since he'll be RFA but with arbitration and the Jets don't have much room to play around with it. Either they pay him up a big sum for 1 year and risk of not getting a good return for a loaner; or play it now and get a 2023 2nd round pick which could be valuable given the pool they can pick in.

2.
MTL
  1. Lafrenière, Alexis [Droits de RFA]
Détails additionnels:
Barron will provide MYR a good prospect at the blue line; Habs have plenty to go around for now. And the get a 1st pick in 2023.
NYR
  1. Barron, Justin
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (FLA)
Détails additionnels:
Hugues may have brought in Barron, but Gorton picked Lafrenière 1st overall; if NYR are ready to get some fresh legs on the right side of the Blue line and a 1st round pick for Lafrenière; Then I would see this happening which would also help the Cap Space situation in NYR territory who may want to keep Tarasenko next year.
3.
MTL
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (MTL)
Détails additionnels:
Gurianov and Hoffman are a move to get some size and a sniper into the team before making the move on Matthews with a major trade with the Leafs.
ARI
  1. Gurianov, Denis [Droits de RFA]
  2. Hoffman, Mike (2 250 000 $ retained)
  3. Pezzetta, Michael
Détails additionnels:
Habs get their second round pick for 2024 back ARZ have enough picks to provide a better than 3rd round choice for the Gurianov and Pezzetta; Hoffman is a play or leave situation in his contract year, whic could be instrumental on helping Matthews get more points.
4.
MTL
  1. Theodore, Shea
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (VGK)
Détails additionnels:
Vegas are runing out of option in terms of cap space; most of their players have no trades or no movement clauses. I'm thinking Habs need a seasoned veteran at the blue lines to help Ghule and other to develop; Vegas need cap space... They pay a 2nd rounder in 2024 for the cap; but receive a 2023 4th and 2024 5th.
VGK
  1. Edmundson, Joel (1 750 000 $ retained)
  2. Choix de 4e ronde en 2023 (PIT)
  3. Choix de 5e ronde en 2024 (SJS)
Détails additionnels:
Edmundson will probably be out most of the season; so Vegas are getting him half price, but may even put him on LITR to save cap and ability to keep one of their goalies.

WPG will get a MUCH better return if they simply trade him at the deadline. There are also zero prospects in that trade???

Sorry bud, but none of these make sense for the other teams...

• WPG would want AT THE VERY LEAST a 1st round pick, and one or two decent prospects to be included in the deal. That trade doesn't have anything of that.
• NYR trade value isn't that far off (at least in my view), but I don't see NYR moving Fox or Trouba, which makes it very unlikely that a RHD would be their primary target in a Lafreniere trade.
• At this point, Gurianov isn't worth a 2nd, and adding Hoffman only reduces the return you can ask.
• VGK trading Theodore for Edmundson is already absurd by itself, let alone adding a 2nd pick on top of it.

...but that was entertaining for sure. smile

I dont get it, am i being Punked here?
We got really shaky goaltending with an ever increasing injury prone back up
So our solution is find him 5/6 Defense who only shoot left leaving half the shooting lanes open 66% of the time ?

You must hate your goalies a lot as this is a Goalie Killer system
Notice how LAK got hung out to dry skating 5/6 D as Right handers with the same coverage issue?
Notice how now all the untouchable RD they wouldnt trade before the Roy in particular they're tripping over themselves to move for LD support?

In order to play your off side and control those shooting lanes is with Strong and i mean Superior Back Hand Possession skills.
There's a few guy like TJ Brodie who made a career of it and Morgan Reilly IMO is one of the best in the whole NHL at it
But it requires extra effort a natural RD doesnt need hence the Preference and willingess for teams to overpay for RD over LD or LD like Brodie who are that dominant on their back hand play.

Im all for changes but aside form hurting our Goalies we've hung out Guhle to Dry when its his Team , his Dcore and Matheson is a short team guest.
As good as Matheson is he's found money from a bad situation not someone we sought out. Guhle was and is our guys.
No matter how much MTL loves him like they loved Tyler and Kat Toffoli , IF a offer is above market value Hughes will move him regardless.
i dont see him acquiring LD anymore then i see us trading a RD we gave up a lot for

Jets can do better then that and you didn't send two prospects,
Leskinen isn't a prospect.

What is that Vegas trade... 🤣

These all heavily favor Montreal but that's par for the course around here.

You're hoping he'll sign for 1 year in WIN for what? 4.5M? He's made it clear, he wants out of WIN and will probably use the arbitration which could potentially give him over 6.5/yr. 23-24 WIN has 16 signed players, a little less than 13M$ to spare, 5 RFAs, only 1 goalie signed and you think Chev will go all out and risk the future for a one year deal? They aren't picking top 15 either for this draft year.

I clearly indicated that he may get a 1st round pick, but in this AGM I'm going a different route and giving two 2nd rounders for prospect choice. Leskinen and Tierney are bottom prospect that can be be projects to develop for depth. Never said they were top 3 or top 2 liners..

In what world would he sign for $4.5m? WPG can definitely afford him if he signs for $6.5m...which is where he'd land on a 1 year deal, 6.5-7. Also, Tierney is going to be 29 years old and Leskinen is 26...those are not prospects my friend. WPG would be targeting guys in the 18-20 year range.

No one thought the Vegas deal made sense either when they sent out Pacioretti, but they did.. Also they have all of their top earners in no trades or movement clauses. It leaves them little wiggle room to move someone out. They have 20 contracts, 3.4M$ to spare, one signed goalie, 3 RFAs which include Howden. Unless you want to trade Pietrangelo, Martinez, Eichel, Stone, Karlsson, Marchessault or Smith who all have these clauses you're left with little wiggle room and a team ready to help you out to take a contract like THeodore, or Roy off your hands. No one is going to help 'em out with a smile. They have painted themsleves in a corner. They can put Edmundson on LITR or if he can play will cost less than 2M$ and can be traded back out..

Theodore would be a gift, I’m pretty sure most of the league is in line for him if he’s available and healthy, patches was kind of a different scenario completely, not as many teams could gamble on him like Carolina could. Minimum 10 teams would be in negotiations for Theodore

WIN - Read the Descr.. I said I would trade a 1st, but here I'm looking at other scenarios;
NYR - RHD are always something teams want, NYR have little. They can also put him in the AHL for all or part of the year; it should be a good trade off for both;
ARZ - have you read the info below the trade? ARZ have plenty of picks, they may want to get a sniper like Hoffman who's in the contract year; And a Hoffman in a contract year is a good Hoffman to get. Gurianov is a development opportunity that could be good, I also added that I see Leafs moving assets out, the biggest one being Matthews for picks, lots of 'em and he comes from ARZ, Bettman is tring to sell hockey in ARZ.. Matthews as an eye for the USA market .. It could be something for them. Pezzetta comes in as a valuable asset also.
VGK not trading someone who doesn't have a no trade or movement clause is absurd. They have no more room, little options that can be moved without paying to get someone out.

You think the jets have a cap problem? why? they don't at all. Pay Dubois 6.5mil, pay a back up around 750-900K leaves about 5-5.5 mil for 4 slots with will likely be for young guys playing on the bottom of the roster (cheap player). Jet end up with about millon in cap space all said and done and that's without any trades... No cap issue what so ever.

Not only trading Theodore but paying to trade him. I’ve seen it all on this site….

Then your rationalization is because we gave away patches? The mid 30s guy that couldn’t stay healthy and once again proved that. I just wish MTL fans would share their stash cause this is some GOOOOOD stuff.
