<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>1. Montreal isn't giving up 2 1sts + worth of value for PLD and an AHL lifer D man.
2. Mailloux is aging out of the OHL this years so he will at least be AHL bound and the NHL will have to allow for him to be called up if injuries happen, so at some point this next season he should be cleared to play.
3. Hoffman (retained) has positive value and even if you don't view him as having value he is a cheap buyout
4. Agree the most likely trade is Kidney, Dvo and the cats 1st</div></div>
Dear Hab fans... Jets don't have to take any money back in any PLD deal. Winnipeg isn't taking on Dvorak or hoffman etc. If you think those players have value go trade them and use the assets in a dubois trade.

Why do people think winnipeg or any team really is taking Dvorak. He's a super expensive 3c at best. More than half the teams in the NHL run an internal budge including the jets they are not touching a player that makes almost 1.5mil more cash than his cap hit. It isn't happening and if Habs fans think he has value than trade him to a different team and use the pieces in a dubois trade. Just ****ing stop with the Dvorak ****.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SKWPG</b></div><div>Quite certain that no team other than VAN or DET considers those trades.
WPG wins the NJD trade, but only if Helly doesn't sign with NJD. If Helly signs LT, then NJD wins this trade.
WPG WINS the OTT trade.
WPG wins the AZ trade.
WPG = MTL trade. Still don't see MTL trading the #5 pick overall, but KFC is a top line winger / sniper, so maybe?
WPG WINS the FLA trade.
WPG = DET trade.
WPG = VAN trade.
Despite all those trades the WPG wins, you still don't have a very good roster. You have Perfetti as the #1 C and he's been hurt more than he's played or close to it. He's NO where near a #1 C. If healthy, maybe a top 6 / top 9 winger. Greig as your 2nd Center? Already? You have 2 kids as your top 2 Centers. No...</div></div>
So these trade valuations were done using GSAA. These trades are actually very equal in value. Factor in Money... Like every team knows Schmaltz has to be traded. Yotes aren't paying him the cash owning on that deal. Likely they only get a mid 1st for him. Vejmelka stats wise in an average NHL goalie. Knight hasn't even been that but hes still youngish but also missed a season and costs 4.5mil starting next year. Panthers can't carry 14.5mil in goalie cap hit. Oh and the sens deal... there is a much better chance none of those guys become as close to as good as Scheifele is. Dudes a PPG player and just scored 42 goals.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WhoCares_ItsAFantasyGame</b></div><div>You're hoping he'll sign for 1 year in WIN for what? 4.5M? He's made it clear, he wants out of WIN and will probably use the arbitration which could potentially give him over 6.5/yr. 23-24 WIN has 16 signed players, a little less than 13M$ to spare, 5 RFAs, only 1 goalie signed and you think Chev will go all out and risk the future for a one year deal? They aren't picking top 15 either for this draft year.
I clearly indicated that he may get a 1st round pick, but in this AGM I'm going a different route and giving two 2nd rounders for prospect choice. Leskinen and Tierney are bottom prospect that can be be projects to develop for depth. Never said they were top 3 or top 2 liners..</div></div>
You think the jets have a cap problem? why? they don't at all. Pay Dubois 6.5mil, pay a back up around 750-900K leaves about 5-5.5 mil for 4 slots with will likely be for young guys playing on the bottom of the roster (cheap player). Jet end up with about millon in cap space all said and done and that's without any trades... No cap issue what so ever.

Dubois Value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howie</b></div><div>Trading out Dubois when if we signed him to that 8-9m offer saves cap too. Hoffman would be an okay fit on the 2nd line lw and retain 2.25m at deadline to trade him for the best return and the cap is gone after next year. I get not wanting to take on cap but to get a better return taking on Hoffman is definitely not going to ruin it. Jets already have difficulty signing players and a pp guy like him could be useful.</div></div>
You aren't getting it. The jets will be firm on keeping salary capped at 70mil. They are already right around there without dubois. They will be looking to shed salary not bring in any. And Hoffman isn't good and doesn't fit the culture of TNSE. You keep saying the jets can get this or that for him... ownership will not care. 65-70mil that's it period. The only way the jets take on money with any Dubois deal (montreal or any other team) is if a young player is signed long term through his prime.
This isn't about what Montreal will or won't offer its how the jets will be conducting business during a rebuild/retool. Remember the team will expect less arena revenue during a rebuild/retool and TNSE are trying to buy a mall for 80mil plus renos.
Also Dubois won't sign a contract to play hockey in Winnipeg this summer. Only way he pays in Winnipeg is if jets take him to Arb and than likely he signs an offer sheet to counter.

The jets are going to run an internal budget of around 65-70mil dollars. They aren't retaining ****. The only type of contracts jets will take on are contracts owning less money than cap hit hit. Jets had an internal budget this year its why they didn't spend to the cap. It will only get lower next season if entering a retool/rebuild.

There is only 3 guys on the Habs roster jets would take back as cap... Dach, Evans or Edmundson if the trade happens after july 1 so his signing bonus is paid. Maybe Hoffman is Montreal retains 15%. That's it.

Once out of the top 10 draft value from like 11-21 really isn't a large gap at all. Lots of stuff written on this. Also jets will care for more about cash on contract not cap so I doubt they have much interest in Montreal players who seen to all have more cash being paid out than cap hit next two seasons. And if you want to know about why the jets care about the cash... Their parent company is moving in on a 70-80 mil dollar real estate deal and will need millions more to upgrade that real estate.

DO we need a talk on draft picks and value... after the top ten draft pick value drops a lot. After top 15 they are far closer in value to 2nd round picks. Oh and on top of it all while many people are yelling about how deep this draft if it is extremely top heavy and gets watered down around pick 12-14. If you don't believe me I would recommend reading Elite Prospects they are the best in the game with NHL prospects.

Trading off summer time
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>That's close minded. If Hoffman brings back a 2nd or 3rd and it only costs Winnipeg $1.125M to get that pick, any team with the cap space would jump on that. The going rate for that amount of retention is a 4th/5th and there's always a taker for those deals as well.
It's silly to reject added value because you don't like/need a player if he's not even meant to play for your team. This is like Montreal saying, "hey, we'll give you a 2nd(or 3rd) to retain ~$1M as a middle man in a trade". No GM is turning that down if they have $1M in cap space.
Now if you don't think Hoffman has more value than a 4th $1.125M, that's a different argument.</div></div>
So all montreal fans know it on here... The jets will not take money back in a PLD deal unless its a player they want long term and whos cap hit is close to their cash value. Jets parent company is trying to close a huge real estate and the jets will operate on an internal budget. The jets also won't want to retain on any players to try to get draft picks. Just a little research into the jets and you could come up with actual trades that could make sense.

Also jets are not talking on any contract where the cash is higher than the cap hit so no one on the Montreal roster fits that bill. Dvorak, gallagher, anderson, hoffman and armia in the next 1-2 yrs all make way more cash than than cap hit. Jets will be having an internal budget I will not want those contracts period.

Habs are going to be bad next season again so if montreal wants to give the jets a likely top 5 pick unprotected and a 3rd... sure. I would also think if Dubois wants out of winnipeg he doesn't sign an offer sheets that locks him in for the year.
