I read your reason and you said they are moving all of that for a cap dump of Granlund. Hanifin is a true top 4 LD who would be an instant upgrade to our roster and Coleman is a productive 5v5 forward and excellent penalty killer. Both players address needs. Nylander is 25 and has 14 career goals. He isn't some blue chip prospect. Who cares if he gets moved?

No, it's not. That's a terrible trade. Coleman has NOT lived up to his contract. 18G last year and 16G the year before? Hasn't even hit 40 points? $4.9M for the next four years and he's 31? No friggin way. Hanifin is a fine pickup, but the Pens only get him for one year and they're not in position to give up a 1st for a rental.

I get the logic of this trade because we give up Granlund, but not thank you. Bad trade. Pens are better off buying out Granlund.

You understand that we didn't sign coleman for points right? He's been prolly one of the best defensive players for us this szn and can produce without high point totals. So, cgy would reject that

Hanifin is a huge pick up who is well worth the price. Coleman had 12 goals and 32 points at 5v5 last season, is a top end PK'er, and a great 200ft player who absolutely is worth his deal. Not only that you dump Granlund without any of the dead cap. And who cares about the first? You are trying to win now. The Pens are going to suck for some time after the core retire. Not going all in for this core is a waste. Half of these boards have the Pens signing Compher for 5 mill and he isn't even close to Coleman. This is a very good trade for Pittsburgh.
