Description
TBH, I'm not too confident on the asking price for Firstov and Addison. I have a feeling that might be too high but idk. McBain fetched a 2nd so who knows.

I want to leave $2M in cap space ($1.4M was the best I could do tho) since that's what most GMs, including Guerin, like to aim for. Steel, Duhaime, and Reaves will likely cost more. It's just tough to justify giving them more when we know Steel benefited from great linemates and the latter 2 are 4th liners.

I've seen...
Steel @ $1.2M AAV
Addison @ $1.7M AAV (he gone)
MoJo @ $2M AAV (that'll be tough)
Duhaime @ $1M AAV (kinda high imo for a 4th liner)
Gus @ $2.8-4M AAV ($4M would be devastating)

IDK any free agents or trade targets worth pursuing. Also, I understand why Wild fans want to get Zucc, Foligno, Goli, & MAF off the books when you see how much the cap space opens up but it's just way to unrealistic imo. I don't see any of them getting traded nor retiring. Next season's gonna be TIGHT.

Détails additionnels:
Decent player. Unfairly labeled by some as a spoilt brat for choosing to play in the KHL this season instead of the AHL but (a) he only signed a one year deal, (b) was born and raised in Russia, (c) played all 4 years at UConn, (d) received a bigger paycheck than what he would've earned in the AHL, and (e) opted to come back home for ONE season where he had an incredible season for a player his age. He's fallen out of favor with the FO as they would've liked to have him play in the AHL immediately but I don't blame the kid for wanting to play back home for a season. Plus, we let our entire AHL coaching staff (besides the goalie coach) walk after yet another subpar season in which our prospects (yet again) hardly improved -- despite having the #1 ranked pool. Plus, it's unlikely he would've ever been given a fair shot at some NHL ice time as evident by Walker & Beckman putting on impressive performances in their brief stints. Evason and Guerin prefer to "over bake" prospects in the AHL and fill the major team with grizzled vets. In the end, it worked out nicely for Firstov as he put together one of the best KHL seasons given his age.

All in all, I think he recognizes that he'll never get a fair shake until he's 24/25 simply due to Evason's bias towards veterans, as well as the depth we have at LW. I think it'd be best for both parties to part ways. Firstov also wouldn't be the first F prospect to be the odd man out. Jack McBain seems to be doing fine in ARZ. Nesterenko looked decent in ANA.

Détails additionnels:
IDK Addison's value nor any team interested in him. I saw one lone comment from a Ducks fan saying they'd be interested in Addison so this is a total shot in the dark. He can drive a PP like a mf'er but that's about it. Finished 3rd in pts by all rookie defensemen despite playing far fewer minutes & games. So the talent is there.

Détails additionnels:
High price. Really depends on how much Gustavsson's term will be. If he signs @ $3M AAV, we'd have enough space to resign Johansson...who's turned into an absolute BEAST skating with Boldy. Raddysh offers that Hagel upside that the Wild could use though. Plus, he and Katchouk are getting paid below the min. cap so that helps. I'd hate to pull a Chuck Fletcher and give up valuable picks but I've talked myself into Raddysh too much that I'll need another Wild fan to chime in. :)

That's not going to get it done after what we just witnessed what Jeannot received. I'm not even suggesting TRad should get that much. It just would be stupid to NOT wait until the TDL and maximize value.

Oh, I totally get it from a Hawks perspective. What would it take to entice you enough to forgo the TDL route and accept an offer this offseason? The Wild have the top ranked prospect pool (according to Scott Wheeler from The Athletic) and are able to offer a number of talented prospects that align with your rebuild...or at the very least, speed it up.

It'll likely be picks because KD wants to TRULY rebuild this thing. Whether that be getting out in front of the Toews not coming back situation. Or the Debrincat/Dach & Accepting Dumps for picks. Also, It FEELS like (not facts, but feels like) it's easier to trade away picks because prospects have names. Prospects have Wild fans following them. Good or bad. From the Hawks perspective, Lambos won't cut it. We've got too many D prospects as it is. No real interest in Beckman.

Also, when you say "What would it take to entice you enough to forgo the TDL"...that means you're paying the "Jeannot price"...WHICH AGAIN...I'm not even trying to say should be the value, BUT that should be the ask by KD and see who bites. That 2023 1st is likely required if you want to forego the TDL.

How about that '23 1st rounder and the '25 3rd? As was stated by @exo2769, Davidson seems to prefer picks over prospects in his deals thus far.

@gopherit shouldn't that also be in MIN's best interest too? MIN needs to have those up and coming ELCs while the dead cap is in place too, no? A 2023 pick won't be NHL for 3-4 years.

I proposed Bankier, Spacek & '23 2nd for TRad, Katchuck and Roos which is probably a touch to much from the Hawks side. 3 mid 20's good (certainly not great....but can play at the NHL level players) on cheap deals and I think it is win win. Wild get 3 guys that are cheap and can play to try to navigate cap hell and field a legit team. Hawks move 3 guys that are more valuable to a cap strapped contender than a tanking team. Hawks cash in 3 mid 20's pieces that are likely not around by the time things turn in 3 or 4 seasons and reboot to 3 younger pieces in the hopes 1 or 2 are actually useful when things do turn.

Steel is a guy that will be getting a raise as an RFA and a guy that won't be around when the Hawks get good (the reason you are trading TRad to start). Firstov just ran home to the motherland when things did not go as desired so who knows if you can even get him back to North America. Beckman would be of some interest, but not as much as Spacek or Bankier.

We have youngsters but Evason would rather fill our roster with veterans than give prospects proper game time to develop. As for your point on 2023 picks, I would agree if it weren't for this draft being a generational one. That being said, I do see how enticing it is to wait until to TDL for a Hagel/Jeannot return. My thought process with trading prospects over picks is the former allows you to speed up your retool w/o impacting your tank for the next 2-3 years. But I understand that GMs typically want to make their own selections.

How long do you expect the hawks rebuild to take?

I'll have to sit on that. I think the value is fair given the circumstances. I'd probably accept if push comes to shove.

@exo2769 @Hawksguy81 So a '23 1st + '25 3rd for Raddysh. Would that cover Katchouk and Roos that @wojohawk included too? If not, would prospect swaps suffice for those players?

For me it would. I'm just one guy, but that does help our prospect pool. We're not trying to "win it" next tear or the year after. Maximize asset value would be key. TRad being less than the league minimum next year is a nice benefit.

Depends on Bedard. Obviously he's a generational talent. I'm admittedly in the minority and I'd probably send him back to juniors. NOT because he isn't good enough, but who on that team is going to A.) Protect him B.) Help develop him? He's a super high end talent likely playing with guys...that aren't. Sure, I could seem him playing with Reichel. That's a good fit, but two rookies on a line will still need protection. People sometimes forget that Bedard is even young for his own draft class. Allow the kid time to physically mature a bit. The tank isn't over.

To answer your question. Without Bedard...they'll ice a bad team again 1 more year then allow their prospects time to develop. Aka...still tons of mistakes two years from now, BUT that's a natural progression.

I agree. Have him do like Guenther or Wright did. I doubt they could hold him back for two years without drawing some serious ire and possibly even pissing off Bedard himself, but, if they could make it work and keep all parties happy, that would be ideal for the sake of the rebuild.

I'd go have an honest conversation with him and his family. For Bedard (and Fantilli) it won't be more than 1 year, but that 1 year can really help their physical maturity.

For sure. And both of them seem like pretty reasonable kids that would have no problem going back with their junior/college clubs and giving things another go.

I think it would take at the least adding one of the prospects to cover all 3 pieces I was talking about as I am fairly sure those picks were in the context of just TRad.

I'd think a F prospect coming back to the Hawks for including Katchouk and Roos would be fair.

Great, CIVIL discussion on your post. Wish there was more of this on this site. Nice job on your ACGM to get it going!
