I think it’s possible, maybe even likely that he could go still, and a situation where everybody wins.

Right now it seems to me the MLSE board is the ultimate decision maker as it pertains to Toronto’s roster and lineup. I think that’s a fine structure for them. The Leafs represent substantially more influence and value due to Rogers, Toronto itself, the Marlins, etc, It would be borderline crazy to give any single person substantial authority.

Those floated Pittsburgh rumors all suggested full control.

It could also be in Toronto’s best interest to allow Dubas to essentially take a promotion in Pittsburgh, and promote from within, keep the great things Dubas has built, and add their own pile of great things. If Toronto continues to use the board based authority structure it may not make sense to keep any single gm in the position for substantial time, which is a valid strategy if they focus on internal development.

Dubas probs gonna sign an extension tomorrow as why does he want to go to a senior home of a team. They giving him control as there is nothing to control everyones locked in already

I defend the Leafs often. I defend Dubas often. But, all they did tonight was finish off an inferior opponent and avoid another massive letdown and choke. It's about time they won a playoff series with the prolific talent they have. But, it's gonna take a lot more wins to make this a successful postseason, imo. Saving Dubas' job doesn't amount to success. The absence of another massive failure does not equate to success.

As much as I like the memes and jokes about the Leafs losing in the first round every year, I am super happy for them and their fans, and I can't wait to watch Steve Dangle's reaction!
