Edmonton declines. McLeod is better than Veleno and there's no reason for Edmonton to move Lavoie. Why would they make their team worse at the start of their Cup window?

Add that Giant Soderbloom who's 6'8 and MTL would see value in as a longshot if nothing else he'll be over big time in Laval .
He's only got 59 days of Waiver Exempt Status left anyways and you got him in the AHL anyways

We can always get more for Dvorak RS and with 2 years left we're at a point where RS is already as we're running out of players we need to sell off and RS for others gets us a 4th at best short term.
Two late picks seems more like what we'd get for Edmundson before the season due to his 3 straight years of starting the season on LTIR then getting more solid as they year grinds on.

But you add Soderbloom in there and im so distracted by the payoffs i dont even pay attention to the risks.
DET doesnt lose anything as Soderbloom like Crouse will take years of playing him at the NHL for him to adapt and become the player he's projected to be.
With Rasmussen there already they already have one guy they're doing that with taking up 1/12 spots , MTL is at a point where he'd be ideal for our 3rd line with Evans and Gally.

I dont care what the return is in the end if Soderbloom is there (assuming there's no RS)

Lol. I seriously doubt that. DET could literally turn around and flip Dickinson for a worthwhile profit. Whereas CHI would just have an LHD that they will never sign, a 7th round pick that will probably never become anything, and will be missing a 6th round pick.

Ah yes, a worthwhile profit - a 3rd?
Ajo would be your 2nd best LHD behind Korchinski. Let's be real.

AJO wouldn't even be close to our 2nd best LHD prospect. I would put Kaiser, Vlasic, Phillips, Galvas, Allan, and Del Mastro ahead of him pretty easily.

I know enough about him from memory, but it literally took me one second to click on him and look at his capfriendly profile and another couple minutes to look up more info and video on him. I also watched him in all the games that Rockford played against Grand Rapids this season. He is fine, but we have a plethora of exciting LHD prospects that I value more highly and we are not looking to add more. CHI would be looking for a forward OR, if it is a defenseman, it would be RHD.

Wings are not trading Söderblom for a Cap dump. Wings could just re-sign Pius Suter who plays very similarly than Dvorak.

If Söderblom takes longer to develop, what then? He's 6'8, but skilled, you shouldn't trade a guy like that for nothing.

What i said was if Soderbloom was involved i wouldnt care what the return was .
In my era sentences meant what they stated and were not open to such a wide interpretation like today.

Sure i pointed out both players flaws because if you dont on here fans go for trades that are ridiculous when you basically say Blank Check .
But the Closing statement was clear as day "I dont care what the return is in the end if Soderbloom is there"

DET could have gotten a depth piece depending on the ask and picks or a Conditional 2nd that becomes 1st and a lesser prospect or pick .
Maybe even a 1st + a decent prospect if DET had more then Soderbloom on their side.
I pretty much just gave the rope for DET fans to go wild and their response was "i cant read"

Meh. I don't think there's any reasonable asset that Detroit could be interested in shipping out Soderblom for.

Johansson was a 2nd round pick in 2019 and Yzerman / Horcoff sees a lot of potential in him. If a top prospect picked in the first round isn't ready in 3-4 years, that's a concern. But players picked in rounds 2-7 usually take longer to develop. What is the point of trading a former 2nd round pick for a future 2nd-3rd round pick. The same cycle starts over again then- Draft, develop for 3+ years.

Lest it be that Detroit is able to trade up in this draft - then I can forsee a Soderblom to MTL.

I am not sure why your response about this is to me because I mostly agree with you, but I could probably come up with a few reasons why they might do that. haha

Maybe they have prospects and/or players ahead of them on the depth chart that they like more, making that player expendable for the right package. Maybe they want futures or a player that plays a different position. Maybe they take that future 2nd and package it for something else that will have a more immediate impact. You don't want to let players sit in developmental leagues for too long or you risk them losing all value entirely. Maybe their long term plans allow them to be flexible and continuously move pieces to either make a profit or break even and push picks and prospects further down the road when they will need them more than they do right now. Maybe they already have a player they like that plays a similar style and they want to swap an offensive guy for a defensive guy, or the other way around, or a tough guy for a motor guy, or a power forward for a skill guy, or a defenseman for a forward, or a redundant player for a pick, etc.

All I know is that the CHI trade probably isn't interesting to CHI. They would probably rather get a pick(s) or a player that isn't a redundancy in return for Dickinson. Someone that fits their vision and the timeline of the rebuild, or something like that.
