Max I would pay, anything else we just buyout. IK Hawks fans will say not worth it, but you will NEED to add on cap and to get veteran leadership and a player who you can flip at the TDL for another few picks can be valuable. Islanders can survive without this so there isnt much leverage on the Hawks side as there are plenty of other teams who do this

The Hawks don't NEED to add cap dumps. They NEED to spend wisely for veterans that'll help their prospects develop. Kyle Davidson is very willing to take on cap dumps, but he's been clear...it'll cost teams. Dickinson...a 2nd. Zaitsev...a 2nd and 4th. Mrazek...moving up into the 1st round. All different values, but a 4th round pick is not close to any of his actual history. You're going to have to buyout bailey. It'll save ~$2.3M this year, but cost you ~$1.2 the following.

Hawks are not buying a 4th round pick for 3.5 million (and 5 in cap space) becasue they "NEED to add cap on". They can call up Tampa and spend 900K in real money and get Seabs 6.875 cap hit and probably get the same 4th. 3/4ths of the teams in the league have at least one contract they would love to move on from with a very limited number of teams both with room to add cap and the ownership/financial capability to spend money to buy picks. Or the Hawks could just offer Kane 3 years at 8 million each (or 9 or 10 or literally whatever they need to make it happen) and reward a guy that has actually helped their own franchise win something with a "veteran leadership" cause the next time the cap max COULD be an issue is when the ELC for whoever they draft this draft comes up. Could you list the plenty of teams that a) can afford a 5 million cap hit and b) would have any interest in doing that for a 34 year old 25 point winger?

I would much rather have Kyle Palmieri's remaining 2x$5M than Max Domi at $4M (also I'd be shocked if Domi signs that cheap after a 55 point season this year). Sending Palmieri out for peanuts when his scoring is not that far off rom Domi's (Max is at a 22-38-60/82 GP pace this year while Palmieri is at a 25-26-51/82 pace) and his defense is actually solid (59th percentile in defensive GSVA vs. Domi's 2nd percentile).

I wouldn't even pay the 4th to dump Bailey - even if you swap Palmieri back in for Domi's contract, the team you've built here has enough cap space to absorb the $2.667M buyout penalty. The team has one of the league's worst farm systems, I think it's crazy to sacrifice anymore potential depth just to clear cap space that we don't really need at this time.

It's hilarious the excuses people come up with to justify not paying for their cap dumps. This one is the new trend. "Hawks need to get to the cap floor so they have to take my teams ****ty overpaid player for free." As if 90% of the league isn't trying to dump cap and maybe 2-3 teams are capable and willing to take it on
