Description
I know that its more likely Bratt stays in NJ. But *IF* the Devils find that they cannot sign both Meier and Bratt they will need a trading partner. I am sure they will do whatever they can to keep both, but *IF* they can't hang on to him, the deal may look something like this and the Devils get a retained Henrique back as well to help fill the hole on the roster. Value and contract based on the Fiala deal

https://thehockeywriters.com/devils-predicting-jesper-bratt-next-contract/

EDIT: Not sure NJ needs another LD prospect, but can replace with any comparable prospect really

Helleson slots in for injury at RD

3LD is a training camp battle. Benoit is the safe pick, but I think Minty, Zell, and Hinds each get at least a few games in the NHL

Gibson - Dostal are a 1A-1B tandem (50-30ish split)

Lots of young depth that can make the jump if needed... Nesterenko, Regenda, Leason, Carrick come to mind. Even the younger guys like Perrault, Tracey, Pastujov could find their way up with a good start to the year

This would be a fun team

They will absolutely make it work unless he doesn't want to be there. They have a lot of cap coming off the books and the prospects to replace it. Plus they can move other pieces if need be

The ducks need to find a way to be exciting again. Zegras alone isn't enough. They need some prospects to be excited about and some picks coming their way. Gibson needs to go

Gibson isn't the problem, not even a problem on the team. If we had a lesser goalie as our starter we would be dead last this season. If the users on here are anything to go off of, no one would give us enough value to acquire Gibson to make it worth our while anyway. I keep telling people watch the man play, its clear as day a lot of the goals that go past him, there's not a damned thing he can do about it short of shagging a leprechaun to try and get some better luck. Tips/deflections from shots that were going wide that redirect on net past his reach, backdoor passes to uncovered opposing players, etc. Gibson (and the other Anaheim goalies for that matter) have been getting hammered from in tight all season.

We have prospects to be excited about, Zellweger and Mintyukov, Dostal, and whoever we draft this year, hockey gods willing that it is Connor Bedard. But yeah, its been a rough go this year, I bought season tickets, I burn money on every game I can't attend selling them because no one wants to watch what happens on the ice, I am ready for the draft and look forward to who Verbeek gets to coach next season.

Off-topic, but how much were season tickets (if you don't mind me asking!)?

On-topic: Agree completely on Gibby. Priority 1 is finding a coach. The good news about this draft, and what we need prospect-wise, is that we're absolutely going to get a skilled forward prospect, regardless of whether it's 1OA (Lorddddd pleassssse), or 6th OA (Worst case scenario, which still isn't horrible). I was surprised by the "Take a big dman with 3 of the 4 picks in the first 2 rounds" strategy, but it worked out quite well.

I also think it's hilarious that, in addition to having both Zellweger and Minty leading the WHL and OHL in points by dmen, the Q leader is Luneau, who's almost as exciting as the other two (I've seen him in person a few times through the season, and he has looked better and better every time).

I got tickets in section 206 in the lower bowl, not on the glass, and it was about $9000 for two seats ($99/seat/game * 44 games)

I'm curious if people have any specific candidates in mind as good options for the next coach. Personally I'd like to see Dan Bylsma get another NHL job. Looks like he did a bang up job in Coachella with a roster that doesn't exactly blow me away.

Honestly I’d say that’s a fair trade for bratt. Obviously I love bratt, as most devils fans do, and the ideal situation is to get him signed, but if he wanted out or we couldn’t reach an agreement this is 100% fair

I honestly wouldn't hate Bylsma getting a shot. I think the fact that he had a mediocre Buffalo team playing (almost) .500 hockey during his two years there is pretty impressive. I don't think he's been mentioned in our Ducks circle on here when we talk abou this stuff, but I don't hate the idea.

My #1 guy is Rickard Gronberg. It's not gonna happen, but that'd be fun. Aside from him, I'd like one of Jay Leach, Manny Malhotra, or Mike Vellucci. Andrew Brunette could be a possibility as well.

Cool, I don't know a few of those names so off to the internet I go. Brunette was a guy I had in mind for a while then he got his DUI and it soured me on that. After Murray I'm kind of done with drunks being in charge... although to be fair to Brunette I don't know any details of the DUI or his drinking habits.

That's an easy yes. Flip Silfverberg with 50% retention. There would be a decent return for a player like that at 1.3m

The ducks should be trying for last this year. It's time for a rebuild. A goalie like him keeps you from getting a top pick and every year they keep him his value goes down because of his numbers

We're already in the rebuild, were already getting top picks. Zegras was 9OA, Drysdale was 6OA, McTavish was 3OA, Mintyukiv was 11OA, we will have a top 5 pick this year. We're looking to start climbing back up next season, not continue to suck. We're a small market team, we can't just decide to suck for a decade to acquire a top of top 5 picks like Toronto did, our team would go bankrupt.
