Quoting: Devil
A top 4 dman for a bottom 6 forward?
Quoting: Campabee
Right a bottom 6 winger, that is why the Oilers reportedly offered a 1st + Bourgault for him right?
I'm sure that you don't believe in Santa Claus or The Tooth Fairy, so what makes you accept THIS nonsense?
Never mind what you or I or anyone else think about Josh Anderson's value . . . pick yourself up out of your Montreal chair and try looking at this "report"
from Edmonton's point of view.
From at least the midpoint of last season right through to today, the Oilers have consistently been a cap-strapped team whose enormous offensive abilities have been matched by their obvious defensive shortcomings. Moreover, their GM has consistently stressed the need he perceives to upgrade their defense (hence the Ekholm acquisition). So the idea that Edmonton would have made an offer for Josh Anderson is only slightly less silly than the thought that they would have asked about Christian Dvorak.
Now if you want to believe that Ken Holland made this offer for David Savard, or Michael Matheson, and Kent Hughes rejected it, go right ahead -- that at least makes some sort of sense and has a germ of rational foundation to it. And if you want to believe that some team needing offense, or "grit," made a similar offer, be my guest. But unless you were actually in the room when Ken Holland made this purported offer, you have absolutely no intelligent basis for believing that it was made. (It reminds me of the famous MacKenzie-Weegar-for-Andreas-Johnsson offer Florida allegedly made a couple of years ago which Kyle Dubas reportedly turned down -- a "report" that nobody has ever confirmed, probably because it puts both sides in such a bad light simultaneously!)
Ask yourself this -- to whose benefit does this story attach? Certainly not Edmonton's, because they would look foolish for having made it. Certainly not Montreal's, because they would look foolish having rejected it. So what reliable source would have let it slip? Would YOU do that to YOUR boss?
