In my opinion the Sabres aren’t trading Oloffson, who has significant trade value, along with a high second round pick in exchange for Boeser. Brock Boeser is significantly worse than Oloffson, extremely overpaid and has an extra year on his deal. The dude is a cap dump. Plain and simple.

I also doubt the Sabres spent five years grooming UPL in order to trade him for a guy Arizona picked up on waivers. I believe Adams is planning on Levi-UPL to be the goaltending tandem in Buffalo for the foreseeable future. So the Sabres would reject both offers imo.

Oloffson has a high end shot and he’s a great skater. Boeser on the other hand has forgotten how to score and is about as quick on his feet as Josh Bailey.

Olofsson is also a massive liability without the puck. The Sabres love US born reclamation projects. They paid a 2nd for greenway who has two goals this year, you really think they’re above paying that for boeser?

I’m not a huge UPL fan, but look at the defense in front of him right now. Sabres have a great Top 3 on the blue line. Everyone else on that unit is expendable. Bryson, Stillman and Lyubushkin have been awful. Meanwhile Jokiharju is a third pair guy at best, and he’s playing second pair minutes. It’s a serious issue.

Greenway is physical, has great size, is a decent skater, and he’s a tremendous backchecker. Boeser is none of those things. Only thing the two have in common is their country of origin.

And yet 80 year old aarp representative Craig Anderson is out performing him. Jokiharju is bad, so are the goalies. Both can be, and are true.

Granato moved Thompson back to his natural position. Also not to downplay Boeser’s struggles with his fathers health these past couple of years, but Tage Thompson’s wife was battling cancer before he broke out. So I think that could have impacted his play. Hard to see how it wouldn’t.

I would trade Oloffson and Middlestadt because they have value. You can still get something for Jokiharju cause he’s a righty. UPL probably has value in a deal for a true #1. Your ACGM is minimizing the Sabres assets imo.

What was Hoffmans trade value? That’s basically what olofsson is, Hoffman went for nothing of significance. Mittelstadt will likely stay, decent middle six results since moving to wing and costs nothing.

They’re not going to package Upl for a number one. Read the team name. 70-72 mil upper limit

Oloffson’s worst case scenario is that he returns a second round pick imo. Take it from someone rooting for a team that is old and slow, you are undervaluing him.

Hoffman had low trade value cause his wife is a heinous human being who cyber bullied Erik Karlsson and his wife after the loss of their unborn child. He married this woman after it happened btw. So he’s a POS too.

That makes his wife a terrible person, but that rarely affects trade value. How many scandals has Evander Kane been involved in. Patrick Kane? Tony Deangelo? Didnt seem to affect their value..

Evander Kane and Tony DeAngelo were both bought out of their contracts after their major scandals. DeAngelo only fetched a second and a third cause Chuck Fletcher is a Mike Millbury level GM. Also you can’t compare Patrick Kane’s trade value to those two guys. Patrick Kane is an all time great, and he never actually faced charges. Not saying he was innocent, but that’s just a completely different situation.

Oloffson is in his twenties tho. So comparing him to Mike Hoffman today is kind of ridiculous. Also I don’t think Hoffman is half as talented as Oloffson is. Hoffman was definitely more productive, but I feel like Oloffson’s shot and speed is borderline elite. GM’s buy into those tools around the deadline imo.

There’s a big space, but that’s it. Look at the end of the day I’m actually saying you are undervaluing the Sabres pieces. Tyler Bertuzzi and Kyle Palmieri each fetched a first and a fourth at the TDL. Bertuzzi might be more talented than both guys, but he’s also out of his mind and injury prone lol.

You made the goaltending worse

I like olofsson, his shot is probably elite. His speed, to be fair, is probably average, especially for a 5'10" 180 pound forward, maybe above average compared to the league, but I don't see elite. As far as return in a trade, he's not bringing back anything good.

Bertuzzi and Palmieri have the rep that Olofsson doesn't. Thats what drives their trade value. I might be undervaluing UPL a bit, but goaltending is very hard to measure in terms of trade market. We'll see in the summer, but these guys dont have nearly as much value as most think

Connor Ingrams numbers are waayyyy better than UPL's. Stop judging based on draft position. UPL stinks, Ingram's goals saved above average and D-FSV% are much better than Luukkonen. Also hes 25, so the diff in age isnt that much

For a dude who’s forgotten how to score, 41 points in 55 games is pretty impressive. Just imagine how many goals and points he’ll be putting up when he’s fully recovered from his hand injury (which probably would be with another team since the Canucks medical staff seemingly can’t deal with hand injuries), as well as not having the personal issues with his fathers health at the forefront of his mind anymore. Sure he’s a bad skater but he puts up points. If Greenway who has 2 goals and 7 points in 46 games gets a 2nd+, Boeser should easily return a 2nd+
