Jeannot has 800k until the summer, and is a fringe third liner.

I know but that means they get a 2026 unprotected pick the following year, so if it's just an off year they will be fine, but if the team falls off in 2025 and forward it's an issue. That's of course if Jeannot doesn't have any sort of resurgence/growth. I don't think that cost is going to be too much of an issue for them though, they already have a solid core.

I got a strange feeling he's going to score the game-winner against Toronto in game 7 by taking a weak shot from the corner and banking it in off Justin Holl's shin.

It's definitely risky, but this team just needs to manage their cap, they already have all their core (save Stamkos) and extended core players locked. They will probably sign him to a cheap extension for 2 to 3 years. I'm still wondering how, they will ice a roster for next year though.
