I had high hopes for Foudy after seeing him play in London. Never seem to have made the jump to pro hockey.

Victim of no CHL season during Covid then the taxi squad. He pretty much lost a whole year of development. I hope he figures it out someday but I can't imagine he'll be in Columbus past this season.

Ottawa is not spending a high 2nd on a pending UFA goalie that can't stop a beachball, even if it's not blowing in the wind.

    Try again.

Why do people who don't watch players always have to resort to such ridiculous hyperbole? The 2nd is too much, but Korpi is playing well this year.

korpi's actually been pretty lights out this year. our team sv% is .898, korpi's at .910. he's back to looking the way he did in the bubble.

That's a massive overpay for Duchene, particularly since he hasn't been a center for years now.

in this case he either transitions back to center or ends up as the "kent johnson can't take face-offs so let's put him with a top six forward who can" guy that the jackets need. also if he can reprise his role as the faceoff/netfront power play guy, that'd be a huge plus – i like him there more than boone, and unlike boone he can help carry the puck into the zone, since boone's been a bit of a liability there.

    - Definitely too much for Gavrikov even with a pick going with him and a cap dump who dipped on Columbus once in his career coming back.
    - Way too high for Korpi. I love him, but goalies have basically no value at the TDL even when they're playing well. And he is. FYI to fans of other teams, there are in fact two goalies in Columbus and the bad one isn't Korpisalo this year.
    - I have no idea at this point what to think about Arizona and Chychrun.
    - Way too much for Duchene, who isn't a center at this point. 8mill/year can be allocated much better than that. Also, trading players right before their trade protection clauses kick in is a great way to end up with a disgruntled player. Jeff Carter, for example. Duchene has a history of sulking. This team does not need that kind of drama.
    - We can't say anything about Bean based on this season, since his year ended abruptly about five minutes after Werenski's did.
    - No opinion on Foudy or Bemstrom beyond agreement that both will be gone after this season

reilly doesn't move the needle enough as a player to pick and choose where he plays at this point. adam mcquaid once also spurned CBJ and was just fine coming here. at this point with mike reilly it's about staying in the NHL.

fair, but he's been good enough this year that i think he'll get a nice pick as a rental. might be more along the lines of a 3rd rounder.

i think he's far too good of a fit for this roster (in terms of being a very good LHD and having reasonable aav and term) for cbj to pass up, and if they can move gavy first they should be in the drivers seat. i don't think LAK, EDM or BOS are going to beat a CBJ package.

this would be way different than the carter situation – he's halfway through a contract and has familiarity with (and fondness of) columbus as a market. in fact, he consistently and repeatedly talked about how much he liked his time here when asked about it. it's not up to him whether or not he gets traded, but i don't think he'd mind coming to columbus whatsoever.

also nashville has a glut of centers, i think he's more than capable of playing there. even if he's better at wing, the flexibility is a plus for cbj.

Um. Trust me when I say that this is very much not the case. Nashville has "a glut of centers" the same way the Jackets do - lots of names but almost no established quality. Literally the only center worth a damn in the top-9 right now is Johansen, and he's still taking shifts off. Granlund's a stopgap who was never supposed to play the position (and ended up there only because Duchene was even worse), Sissons at C is a fourth-liner (admittedly a very good one though), Trenin's primarily a winger (and bottom-6 in any case), and the Parssinen/Glass/Novak trio are still developing. If Duchene was actually capable at C anymore he absolutely would be there.
