I'd think Jarmo would be very interested in that package even if he wasn't looking to deal Jenner. He wouldn't exactly be a fool not to take it but he'd definitely have to think about it...hard.

Newhook’s offensive ceiling is more than Jenner and COL really can’t just completely take a pass on 2 consecutive drafts.

This year's Jackets have some similarities to the 2016-17 Avs. If it could go wrong this year, it has, and now they're at the very bottom and outsiders think they should sell off every player on the roster, fire the entire organization, and move to a new city. But if you actually look at what's going on, you can see that the bones are in place, the GM is drafting well and the prospect pool is good, the injuries and veteran lack of performance are killing them, and the new coach is in over his head (Larsen is no Bednar, so this is a big difference). Now, I don't expect a Cup in five years, but I will not be remotely surprised to see the 23-24 Jackets in the playoffs-adjacent bubble just like the 17-18 Avs were. But I guess I'm a homer, since everyone knows based on incontrovertible evidence that Bad Teams Are Always Bad Forever even when they weren't even bad last year (finishing 12th OA is firmly mediocre).

That's fair and may prove to be accurate

It's probably no better than 50/50 that he reaches his potential while Jenner is a known quantity. Don't get me wrong, I hope Newhook does develop into a real 2C but that could be several years from now. The Avs have a 3-6 year window of being high-tier contenders before they decline and other teams catch up to them or surpass them.

The only real point to trading for Jenner would be to insulate Newhook for a time before sliding down (or across), therefore the Avs would be very foolish to do this.
