Grier has done a terrible job as general manager. Look at the Burns Trade, the Kunin trade, the Balcers buyout and all of his free agent signings. Jayson Megna doesn’t make up for that.

I'd love that deal as a Devils fan. Ik Sharks fans haven't been happy with what Grier has fetched in trades; I can't say I disagree with the discontent. I thought Megna would've fetched at least a 3rd. In terms of this Devils trade, I feel like you would at least get Sharangovich over Boqvist. If this was the actual trade, this would be a robbery.

I am expecting a robbery at this point. It seems like the lack of management experience is leading to Grier getting played by his fellow gms often

I don’t want to say he’s been bad, while i haven’t loved his signings and deals so far i see the logic and his deals are reasonable. Lindblom and Nutivaara both are duds but i saw the potential from both.
Quinn has been decent but i still think Boughner was a fine coach till we have more skill.
Burns by every metric should not be this good at his age and that deal was a calculated deal to give him a chance at a cup and us some pieces.
Nieto Merkley deal gave us a player who could have some potential, but was underwhelming.
Kunin gave us a fast power RW who has potential and it’s not like Leonard is doing much.
Benning Svechnikov Eyssimont signings have all been plus.

he is about a C- so far. not bad but not great. this TDL will be telling.

and i exclude the draft because that was DWJ draft not Griers.

He was left with a mess. At least he's getting the ball rolling on some things. He's not getting much in terms of returns on his deals and maybe Kunin was a bad trade (pretty early to say), but he's cleared some decent cap with the Burns trade.

Burns has been great this year. Meanwhile the only sharks signing that worked out this summer was sturm.

Pretty sure Burns wanted out though. I think Grier sees that the Sharks are in need of a rebuild, and I'm guessing Burns didn't want anything to do with that, but if I recall correctly, he requested a trade or said he was open to one before Grier was even GM.

It was a terrible return either way and rebuilding teams should not waste a **** ton of money on guys worse than Rudolph Balcers after you buy out Rudolph Balcers.

Kunin has been good in SJ. Look at Balcers, he's in the minors now. Sturm and Benning were both excellent signings. Yeah the burns trade was a letdown. But I'm not totally disappointed. Bystedt has become one of the steals of last year's draft, Lund has been good, too.

I am a fan of Benning. Should’ve mentioned him as well. Kunin just is never gonna live up to the hype tho.

Nutivarra and Lindblom should have been solid pieces.

Burns is 37, carries 5m+cap hit after retention-Bjokstrand and McDonagh were basically traded for free because not many teams could accommodate their cap hit- and he has a NTC that restricts him to being traded to 3-teams without his permission. Not sure what kind of return you are expecting him to yield.

Those two are Quadruple A players for lack of a better term. Right in between NHLer and AHLer. Benning and Sturm r studs tho.

what hype? we dealt him for a depth guy and a 3rd. he’s been solid piece and will be decent for us and easily better than the pick or Leonard.

with a huge risk of him regressing quickly, plus Burns wanted to be dealt and he wasn’t going to be here when the team rebounds anyways. this was taking care of a long time vet and getting a few pieces
