Never thought I would be defending Grier but while his moves have been underwhelming none of them have been head scratchers.

all of his deals so far have been reasonable and we’re for reasons even if they were slightly underwhelming.

I will hold judgement till after Karlsson Meier and Barabanov are dealt. those 3 will show me his negotiating abilities.

He's 37 and signed until 40, McDonagh was a top 4 D too and he's 33, and again Burns had a lot of control to where he goes, it could have been Carolina, Edmonton (who has no cap), and Chicago or some other location he was willing to go. They are lucky they didn't have to attach an asset to him really.

As for why he spent the money on bad players, he probably wanted to get guys that could possibly find redemption and be flipped or kept moving forward, but I think the overall goal is to be bad.

Seattle deal looks about right.
