Description
We somehow magically get the 1st overall pick, thanks Gary, and fire Brad to hire one of the current NHL coaches who are bound to be fired come year end. We trade away some of our assets to hopefully improve the team.

Tex is assumed to not comeback from Europe, and Voracek is assumed to stay on IR but I still take his cap hit into account.

Defense is still very suspect and goalie is too erratic to make a prediction on how this team will do. I can say tho this team would definitely finish better than the current team.

I’d rather trade boqvist for futures. If Tex comes back there’s no reason to take on boesers cap hit.

As a canuck fan I'd ask for Peeke instead of Boqvist. As we are more looking for a guy to pair with Hughes that can be the rock. But I think that's probably fair value.

I feel like at some point we have to stop trading for futures. We have Laine, hopefully Bedard on his ELC cap hit, and Boone on a team friendly deal for the next 3 seasons. Kind of need to prove we can win during that 3 year window. We also are trading for a ton of futures at the deadline already, adding even more for moving Boqvist doesn't make sense.

What's Ekholm's value rn? I genuinely have no idea, or at best a small idea.

I would think Nashville would want more than that, but we already know Jarmo and Poile are good partners.

I know Vancouver is desperate for RD, but they need someone who can compliment Hughes. Boqvist is the same player archetype, small and offense-focused, but also not as good and with serious injury concerns. Additionally, Boeser is both expensive and redundant for a team that already has Laine. I think both teams pass on that deal.

Yeah, we've made a deal in the past with Nashville that worked out for both parties. I can see us hashing another trade out over the summer cause they need goal scoring and we need defense. Their a good partner.

I would get futures to target a player like chychrun or another defensive d man on a cheaper deal to replace Gavrikov. Any draft picks would be flipped not drafted

Then change the Ekholm deal to a chychrun deal and sub out the 3rd for a 2024 1st or Edmonton's 1st.

Probably a 1st+. If you were willing to part with Boqvist, it'd probably cost a 1st and him to get it done.

Sounds like based on this thread swap out the Van deal with Peeke, send Boqvist over to Nash with a protected 2024th 1st.

I think Boeser is probably redundant and while I see this team being "good" I don't think its cup championship levels but probably good enough to make people stop mocking Columbus about their playoff success for the next few years. Also wouldn't be shocked if Puljujärvi comes over with the Gavy trade and signs a really cheap "prove it" deal with Columbus to get his career back on track too with this situation as Columbus likes their underdog stories.
