You’re right, can’t have it all.
Except that they do. They’re set at center, and RD, and are on a historically good pace. This ruins it.
No team "has it all", almost every team tries to get better through the TDL, even if marginally so, to get the cup, there's always room for improvement.
But as I eluded to, this would make sense in a more forward thinking aspect, because, Bergeron and Krejci won't be with the Bruins in 1, 2, 4, 8 years time? Horvat is on the right side of 30, and an 8 year extension puts him in the 35 range, so, a deal makes sense.
Losing Carlo, not as great, then again, nobody says Carlo has to go, I'm sure Vancouver would let Horvat go for a high prospect and a pick, and a dead contract (think Smith)
Lysell, while being a good prospect, is a RW, and doesn't address the institutional lack of depth at C when Bergeron and Krejci retire, a Coyle/Zacha 1-2 isn't going to get you very far.

Also highly doubt horvat takes a super team friendly deal in Boston he has no ties to us and will 100% cash in on this overproducting contract year he is having, just like every late 20/ early 30 yr old player does
My thinking is, get him in, show him the culture especially with Bergeron still there, whereas reaching out as a UFA, there's less of those ties there.
(although I do think Pasta and Horvat hit the market and take big pay days where they can, and I'm in no way a Boston fan, I like what they got going culturally, and would like to see more teams adopt this)
