Goalie swap
Insurance is likely paying the majority of Price's contract, so, likely no real savings to be had.
Murray is definitely not an upgrade over Allen, plus Monty is likely getting the bulk of starts.
Why would Montreal help out a division rival out of their cap nightmare for free..... to take on Murray, there has to be incentive for Montreal to do so....

Actual 24 Cup Champs
Drouin is soft as room temp butter, Pool-party is just a miraculous mess of a player, and why would Colorado bring back Galchenyuk?
The only way this team wins the cup is if the top line carries the dead weight, Johansen returns to his old form, and Landeskog comes back in time for the playoffs.

trade up for michkov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shanesaw9</b></div><div>Marchessault is 5'9", and played with Barbashev 6'1", Eichel 6'2", and was backed up in the top 6 by Howden 6'2", Stephenson 6'0" and Stone 6'3"... average height of top 6 = 6'1". Average height of NHL forwards = 6'1".
Caufield 5'7", Suzuki 5'11", Dach 6'4", Slafkovsky 6'3", Newhook 5'10" and Benson or Michkov 5'10"... average height = 5'11.5". It's a good margin below average forward size, not to mention 2/3 of the line is undersized (Slafkovsky and Dach can't be in every battle) and it's important to remember that Hutson will be one of the smallest defenseman in the NHL too, they will be undersized on the back end too.
That coupled with all the talk of them trying to trade down and the supposed interest in Leonard, Reinbacher etc. has me thinking they won't be taking another small forward, even if they are very talented.
You literally didn't even mention Newhook here, so make that 3 undersized players... 2 on one line potentially out there with Hutson on defence at the same time.</div></div>
One of the strongest power forwards of the group, and most talented, is Moore at 5'11".... Size definitely helps, but speed kills in todays NHL.
Vegas was big and mobile.... not a lot of teams have that.

trade up for michkov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mglgoalie33</b></div><div>it's 2 draft spots back. This is in the thinking that they don't take Michkov and want a Leonard, Benson, Dvorsky. In that case, why not gain assets on top of that. And who knows, Arizona and Washington might try and make bids of their own. It could very well end up good for Mtl. I'd be very happy with a Leonard+Gauthier/Halttunen/Fisker-Molgaard/Danielson. Then a 2nd in 2024. It's a good thought.</div></div>
Any risk of Michkov not coming is equal to Montreal or Philly. So, Philly *should* not dump assets in a rebuild for that risk, and, IF that risk is significant, Montreal would probably rather control the 5 pick, than roll down 2 spots and not have control over the player they really want.
IF that risk is minimal, then why would Montreal sacrifice a potential 100 point Kaprizov/Panarin style player then for lesser pieces.
Any player Montreal picks at 7 or later, likely won't be ready for 2-3 years anyways, so, don't see the upside.
Any expectation that Philly would share their draft strategy, or be beholden to it is naive, Montreal would be better off taking the pick they know they can get and going from there with their rebuild.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MP55</b></div><div>I agree on the assessments of those three players. This post was made under the assumption that Smith and Carlsson are gone and the Habs aren't comfortable taking Michkov.
Been scrolling through Habs Twitter too much and seeing too much negativity towards the prospects of them picking Michkov at 5... now I'm bracing for the worst.</div></div>
Habs fans can be special at times, the Habs are not Dubois away from a cup, so, they likely miss the playoffs again next year as the young D develop, and Montembeault tries to prove he can be a starter.
Waiting on Michkov is probably the best thing, him coming over at 21 and developed into a possible Kaprizov/Panarin style player is exactly what the Habs need in the long term.

Philly would accept, but why would Winnipeg? after moving Scheifele and Dubois, there are basically no C's to roster this team
Which brings us to those trades.
GUARANTEED, Kuzy has Winnipeg on his 10 team no trade list...
Dubois for 1 year of Debrusk, odds are he leaves, and Dubois was dumped for nothing.

Gorton and Hughes say no.
Will Smith, Michkov or Carlsson all likely have higher ceilings than Byfield.

If you get Zegras you don't need Dubois, and the same the other way around.
If Winnipeg were to accept that offer, better to keep the pick, and draft Michkov or Smith and be a better team in the long run.

That's as nonsensical as your previous takes of him being committed to Winnipeg.
PLD's value is low, again, because no team is going to pay top tier players for a possible rental, unless a Severson style sign & trade is in place, he's likely gone for mid-tier prospects, or maybe a 1st.

PLD WIN options
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>I didn't say you said the offer was good, I was just pointing orthat you saying "Winnipeg had very little say in this" is flat out wrong. That's all.
Winnipeg has a huge amount of day in whatn happens, all other teams, including Montreal, have little to none.
PLD's agent said that he would be okay with playing in Montreal someday, but that it had to be nite or anytime soon, just someday.
PLD also did come out and say that his agent's comments were overblown by media and fans and that winning is the most important thing to him, so I guess you missed that. If winning is the most important thing, then he won't be going to Montreal anytime soon.
But, you are exactly right, if PLD wants to be traded this summer, it will be similar to the Tkachuk trade. Do you think Calgary had no control there? Of course they did, nobody could force them to move Tkachuk if they didn't want to. Winnipeg will be in the same position.
None of us know what actual leverage there is or isn't with PLD, but with what we know now we know that Winnipeg definitely has a say in what happens.</div></div>

Considering Spurgeon and Addison are playing the Right 1-2, no.... and for a team about to get buyout cap hit violated for 2 years, trading to bring in more salary is clearly not the way to go.
That Arizona deal is a joke, a borderline PPG center with term, for an injured garbage goalie, a mid level prospect and a later 2nd round pick, it would cost that 2nd round pick just to dump Murray, let alone getting anything of value in return.

Quotes Debrusk having an outlier season and shouldn't be overpaying for him, then says Nuge who had an outlier season is worth more than Pesce would ever be, pot meet kettle.
Nuge is not going to replicate 100 point seasons unless he wings Drai and McD on the PP, trade him to address the defensive weakness, because the Oil are stuck with Campbell for a while, so, give him some help back there.

Miller's not a team guy.
Calgary isn't bad, and likely doesn't need any changes to the roster, Sutter's style was too defensive for the roster that was built.
Run it back with a new coach who lets Huberdeau be himself and control the pace of play.

Chicago won't have any issues hitting the cap floor, taking on a cap dump for a prospect goalie who's been average in his development doesn't seem worth it.
and in what world is Grzelcyk worth Toffoli? Especially after captaining Team Canada, and having the best season of his career? Toffoli is a veteran you build around, his contribution is just an added plus for Calgary, pretty sure he's not getting moved, especially with Calgary's cap situation and weakness on the wings. You can maybe make a move of Hall for Toffoli, but Hall has been less than remarkable for a few years straight now.
