Taking Bailey's cap hit to acquire Boeser means Van probably asks for a first or a better prospect with those picks. Salo isn't very interesting given Rathbone is still in the A.

San Jose trade is probably accurate, Vancouver trade doesn’t make sense for either side.

Boeser is a player a team who’s tanking should trade for. He’s been arguably the worst player in the league this season

Islanders aren’t interested in Boeser, he’s damaged goods and isn’t a big improvement over Bailey (both have been scratched recently, Boeser has an extra year of term and makes 1.65 more per year). Adding a young defenseman and high draft picks isn’t worth it from the Isles perspective.

Also on the Meier deal, replace one of Iskhakov/Dufour with a 2nd, Isles can’t afford to give up 2 of our top prospects at once, our prospect pool is shallow enough as is.

Overpay on Gustafsson, he’s another Aho type, if we get a depth dman I’d rather get someone who can play defense.

Sharks probably accept that though I think Grier would ask Odelius over Ishkakov.

That doesn't get Timo Meier lol and it's not close. Ok laughable.

I hear you. I think he can be a bounce back candidate though. Going back to last year his mind wasn't always in it with his Dad's passing, then this year Vancouver is a tire fire. I feel like he has shown enough to be worth that risk. There is *a lot* more to the game than just points, but he's still producing nearly a point per game rate.

Hypothetically: you keep Bailey through the season. I know he can be bought out and save about half the cap but I'm not a fan of dead money on the books. If you shed him outright with an expiring year, what does that cost? A 2nd and 3rd? A 3rd and someone like Salo? And then if you freed the full $5m, what are you doing with it that's better than a Boeser type? He's a buy lower guy but I think he still has some upside that Bailey does not

Boeser hasn’t been good since his rookie season, without pettersson he’s basically been the equivalent to a 4th liner. The issue is his wrist injuries have killed his shot and he’s really not good at anything else. Maybe if he had a 1 year deal I’d take a risk, but close to 7 mill on a 3 year deal for him is way too much . The isles have too many passengers, can’t take the risk and add another one. Garland is a better option, he has what the isles need. Speed and transition ability, his contract is also relatively cheap and it shouldn’t cost much to acquire him.

Buying out Bailey seems like the most likely option. The isles aren’t in a position to be giving up high picks to get rid of contracts.

Meier and Garland are the only two forwards who make sense for the isles ImO

With Meier you'd have to think it won't just be the Islanders interested in him so his price could exceed his value.

He was actually very good in COVID season. Easily our best player. He wasn't good last year or this year likely due to his poor mental wellbeing. Don't see the Canucks selling low on Boeser as it makes no sense to do so

He was better, but Boeser hasn’t been a top line forward since his rookie season. A big reason for that is his wrist but it’s also why I wouldn’t trade for him. Best bet it to give him a ton of ice time and hope someone overpays nezt season

Trading Horvat and Kuzmenko would open up 2 top 6 spots allowing Garland and Boeser to get more ice time. They would also get PP1 time. Best case scenario is that their benefit from the offensive deployment and bounce back.
