Lehkonen and Danault had a very good WAR while in MTL, but had 3rd line point production. I guess they qualify as bad players with good WAR?
MTL want a 1st for Anderson, and want nothing to do with Mangiapane. If they were to take a 5.8M player they don't really want, they're gonna ask for at least a 1st. Monahan's trade proved that. That's what i meant.
Danault is one of the best 2-way centers in the league and has been for a while. He finished 7, 6, 6, 8 for the Selke in the last 4 years
His offense is a bit underrated. Look at his card, it reflects that
Only his special teams work and goal scoring ability brought his WAR down
ELITE defensively, good offensively and he does all that against Elite competition...
Lehkonen is another underrated forward, his offense improved over the years, his defense game was already elite.

That being said, I'm not really sure what you are trying to say. Maybe you're just not very familiar with advanced stats

I have absolutely no idea what makes you think Mangiapane is some kind of cap dump like Monahan was... Again, he scored 35 goals last season while being a premium defensive forward
They'd be BAT**** crazy to not trade Anderson for Mangiapane. But don't worry, that'll never be on the table
Younger, better, more productive, much better defensively, LESS term too so less risky

I didn't do it before but I'll show you Anderson card then... He is just not very good. The average hockey fan gets impressed by the skating ability and the physical presence but in the end, results matter :
