The only way this trade would work is for Salary to be going back. I don't see Colorado accruing the 5.5MM in cap by TD day. Compher seems likely. Horvat is worth a 1st and Prospect (Newhook).

I'm not advocating the trade for Colorado. I'm just saying that the equivalent value for horvat would be that elsewhere so that's what they would need to pay to get him, rental or not. Personally, I think Colorado could just sign him as an FA for their 2C position. But who knows, all the mistakes happen on TD day.

The avs can not sign horvat, there is 0% chance of him being able extend there either

You know what, you're right. I forgot about McKinnon's extension kicking in next year. They'll only have $11,330,833 and have to fill out 8 roster spots (assuming no increase). Even a 3MM increase doesn't provide much for them.

Considering Newhook and prospects are cost controlled and cheaper, they won’t be spending assets like that on rentals, they need the elcs especially next year
