Bouchard is elite at both ends of the ice this season, elite on the PP and above average on the PK. He's top 10 among all NHL D in xGAR, which is one of the better stats to use for evaluating a defenseman's impact.

It's not a good stat, but I gave you many more to choose from.

Bouchard is #1 caliber defenseman, whether he gets 19 min or 25 min is irrelevant. It's an indictment on the coach if anything. There's not a metric out there can prove hes not an elite defenseman.

Dude like I said before, you picked out the one stat. Look at the other ones. He might have #1 potential, but he gets 2nd pairing time and he's terrible defensively. He's also extremely sheltered. He's not even close to a #1.

He doesn't get minutes, You cannot be a number 1 defender if you aren't getting #1 minutes. That's the first step. The second step is you have to play good while being given those minutes. I don't even know why I'm wasting my time here.

you must not know how to read. His xGA/60 and CA/60 is above average. He has the best defensive impact on the oilers. He is not extemely sheltered. It's almost impossible to be extremely sheltered in 19 min of ice time, everyone plays against everyone for the most part.

you can be #1 caliber without playing #1 minutes. Noah Dobson averages 20 min TOI, he's still a #1 caliber D.
