Montreal passes, we are trying to get younger not older and more broken. Swap Wheeler for PLD and maybe we consider it.

You are more likely to see Anderson and Savard convincing PLD to leave for MTL.

You'll need to get Bjorkstrand, he was his BFF while in Columbus

You think Anderson and Savard are worth PLD+ that original package? Good lord…

lol what? You get a top prospect and a 1st as well as an upgrade on D while also getting two sub-ideal contracts off the books. Sure you have to take on Wheeler but how many years does he even have left? I dont remember but its 2 or less I think

Wheeler is worth more than both Montreal players put together, so there is no chance Winnipeg adds on to take on two cap dumps.

Top prospect? Chaz Lucious? Hed be behind at least 5 guys in the Habs prospect charts. Wheeler's deal like Monahan's will cost a 1st at minumum. Anderson and Savard are worth at least a 1st. Schmidt is noit needed by the Habs so he has to be a cap dump which with his money owed, is another 1st

So separating all the pieces, the Habs should be receiving the equivalent of 3 1st round picks for eating contracts and giving away players

A better trade would be

Savard + Anderson for Wheeler, Schmidt, Lambert and 1st

Lucius was a recent first round pick. Plus a first rounder, so you're at two.

Savard has negative value. Waive him today and if you're lucky a team like AZ might claim him for the heck of it. If Bjorkstrand went for a 3rd, Anderson is worth no more than that but for fun let's go high and say he's worth a 2nd. Take the 1st rounder and Wheeler, call it a wash if you want (which would be incorrect, look at his point totals, still high over past couple years, he's probably got a small positive value). Offer is now the 2021 #18 overall pick and Nate Schmidt, who can be a replacement to play on the top pair for MTL at a better level than Savard, for Anderson (who has way to large a contract) and Savard (cap dump). No brainer. You're adding futures which is what the Habs need and getting out of that sub-ideal Anderson deal that still has 5 years and also getting out of that Savard deal.

You wanna use Bjorkstrand as a trade comparison when he was only traded because of cap reasons. CBJ needed to move 4 million in cap and were willing to miss out on value to do it. If the Habs can get a 1st for Chiarot then Anderson and Savard can both get a 1st rounder

lol you're high if you think Savard gets a 1st, he's a cap dump with 3 years left at 3.5M. No competitive team can afford that for what should be a bottom pair D, you'd be lucky to have another bottom feeder pick that up on waivers.

Anderson's value is more intruiging, but similar cap hit and term for worse production that Bjorkstrand isn't garnering a whole lot more. I might not be all that surprised if he got more than a 3rd, but I'd be shocked if he got a 1st rounder.

Also yes CBJ had to move cap but if you offer, and teams want the player, the demand will drive the price up regardless of your own cap situation. The reality is very few teams have the cap space and long term flexibility to incur a contract at that price and length. And even less so mid-season for the Anderson case.
