Im trying to find a long term solution to RHD issues. Not a lot can be done with that otherwise and they will be screwed in this window

I mean, Spence might not have the same value as Romanov did, but consider that the Isles gave up 13OA for a guy who had fairly limited success to that point.

Sure, but you're downgrading on talent at the cost of a mid 1st, just to say "oh hey, now we've got the 3LD position covered!". It's poor asset management. I mean, take out Spence, and look at it this way... *if* the Kings were picking 15th, and the Sens were picking early in the 2nd, and you added Brannstrom, I would still have a hard time believing that the Kings would even do that.

Consider that the cost for 11OA last year, in what is perceived as a much lower caliber draft, Arizona paid 27OA+35OA+45OA.

I think people are some kind of combo of too high on Spence and too low on brannstrom. There is no downgrade here

it is not worth it to do a prospect deep dive in the comments of an acgm with just one move, but i promise that it is more than just the top ten thats so deep this year.

Here's my early morning line for the Kings' first or second pick in 2023: one of the 4 preliminarily-A-rated LhD prospects in the US NTDP: Brady Cleveland, Paul Fischer, Drew Fortescue, Carsen Musser -- assuming that as this season develops, so do they.

He's in the AHL because the Kings have ridiculous depth on RD and he isn't waiver eligible. Same reason Bjornfot is down there tears of joy. He was playing almost 20 minutes a night last year when the team had injury issues. What exactly has Brannstrom done to show that he'd be any sort of upgrade on someone like Edler or Bjornfot, who the Kings already have? If you trade Spence and move out of the 1st round, even if it's just dumping down to early in the second, you better be getting a clear upgrade.

Edit: This is one of those "I want that guy, but when people say 'yikes, not like that', I turn around and say 'Oh no, he's not actually that good'" ACGM gags, right?

I wouldnt presume to take any of them in the 1st round. Very forward heavy draft. Actually makes this trade down make more sense if thats your plan

Yeah, now list off all the nobodies taken around them. Its 10:1. The fact you dont get that says everything.

Moreover the fact that good players are available in the 2nd round plus only makes what I proposed make more sense

Spence was one of the leading scorers in the AHL last year as a rookie. His development is progressing very well and LA still has 2 more years before he has to clear waivers. He now also has NHL playoff experience. His offensive upside is also higher than Brannstrom. This trade makes no sense to LA.

Yeah youre too high on him. And again i like him, hence his inclusion but this is nuts.

But once again, why does everyone hyperfixate on a totally irrelevant part of the trade. I literally said in the trade: "if Spence is deemed too much, swap him for a late 3rd"

He isnt the point

My brother in Christ, look in the mirror...you're sitting here acting like Erik Brannstrom's value is the same as it was when the Sens (stupidly) traded Mark Stone for him. He's a 5'9'' offence only dman, who isn't even putting up the offence anymore. His best defensive numbers are currently coming in the most sheltered of roles, and the fact that you think that someone would fall out of the 1st round of a hilariously high end draft AND give up a very solid young player to get him and a 2nd round pick is hilarious.

C'monnnnn.

Brannstrom has huge potential that isn't being properly exploited in OTT that underlyings show exist. Bjorn on the other hand was just ass.

Moreover i will repeat myself for the 200th time because you lot are illiterate:

Why would they come out of the 1st? Because a mid to late first isn't very valuable compared to a very early 2nd and brannstrom makes up the difference and fills a spot of need while being young with potential

I have been reading, and you spent the first 90% of your replies defending WHY Spence should be coming back, before flipping to the "Nah, a late 3rd is fine, that's not the point here".

As for calling me dense? I don't really appreciate it, and there's zero reason or place for it here. I get that you don't like the fact that people are disagreeing with you, but c'mon man. Keep it civil.

Lmao. Then actually listen to what others are saying.
Responding to peoples arguments is one thing, pointing out that people hyperfixate on that one part that doesnt really matter is another thing. There was never a pivot. The reason so many replies were about Spence is what promted the hyperfixate comment in the first place. The fact you dont realise that is part of what makes you dense

And i dont care if you dont appreciate it, youre being dense. The very way you responded means you arent paying any attention to what ive actually said. Youre responding to arguments youve made up.

Next time, read the trade fully before commenting, and then actually read what people are saying when they respond to you

I don't see these teams doing that but it would be more like Brannstrom + 2nd for Spence who is only 21 y/o and has the benefit of the doubt on potential right now. His value is more like Brannstrom from 1-2 years ago

I like Spence a lot (which is why i included him here) but he hasnt been given a shot and is stuck in the minors so i question how much trade value he actually holds. Adding to that with LAs other prospects coming up he really doesnt have a spot on their team long term and so i think he could be moved

Spence is a victim of his waiver eligibility. The Kings have Doughty and Roy who are mainstays, and Walker and Durzi who probably aren't as good as Spence, but would need to clear waivers (and likely wouldn't) if the Kings wanted to send either of them down.

They also have Clarke who is up in the NHL getting his look. The current speculation is that they're going to healthy scratch him for 5 games, then send him to the AHL on a conditioning assignment for two weeks, then hopefully he gets selected to the World Juniors. That will give the Kings more time to facilitate a move for one or both of Walker and Durzi so they can call up Spence and perhaps keep Clarke in the NHL.

I don't think the Kings have any interest in moving Spence right now. He's arguably the best RHD the Kings have after Doughty and Roy.

As i said I like the kid and i think he has a future in the nhl to some degree, but with what he is now i dont think he holds a ton of trade value. I mean in a similar situation on another team you wouldnt give up a lot for him either.

But as i mentioned too if you move durzi and Walker Spence is your 4th rhd behind Clarke, and you have Grans on the way. I don't see a future for him in LA.

For your sake, get him in games while you can, try and pump his value and see what you can get
