They would, yes, but Ottawa values Zub more than Ekholm and he's cheaper. Plus Fabbro is better than Liljegren so just keep him.

you’ll have to do without Meier though. that offer is underwhelming, next years 1st and a C grade prospect doesn’t cut it for a 35 goal scoring power forward who is only 26

I'd say no. The Preds are too weak down the middle to be a legitimate contender.

Wait Till Lilly Plays before making any brash statements like that

Liljegren has 74 NHL games and he played 61 games last year, we know how he plays.

There’s not really much to be done. The team just isn’t good enough to be magically transformed into a contender with a couple mid-season trades. Draft, develop, and think about contending in 2025

There’s a pretty big sample size of both players.

No you Don’t, That was his first season, let him get into rhythm, he said he changed a lot of his playstyle plus put on 10-15 pounds of muscle over the Summer which he has shown use of in the AHL during his stint, so we will see

Sure, he MIGHT be better than last year but as of now Fabbro is more valuable than him.

I'm going to try to be constructive (recognizing that's not my strength):

I believe that Ekholm is better than Zub. But Zun is 5 years younger and much cheaper and fits what Ottawa is building better than Ekholm (plus, Sens are set on the left side, where Ekholm is stronger). So Zub is so much more valuable to the Senators organization than Ekholm likely would be. Sens decline. If you want to trade Ekholm for right D help, I think you need to look at teams like NJ or LA who have strong right sides compared to the left.

The Toronto trade is too much of a lateral move for both teams and doesn't really address a need for either team. I'm not sure why you would want to move Fabbro, but I suspect the Leafs say no anyway. We really like Liljgren.

And that trade doesn't get you Meier. That discussion starts with Jeannot and the 2023 1st. Then you add to that. If you're looking for cheaper options to improve the forward core, I think a center would be better. If Vancouver doesn't recover, Horvat might make some sense for Nashville.

Right or wrong, this move is completely the opposite of what Ottawa wants to do
