Canucks decline. No reason to trade a position of weakness for a position of strength. Hoffman would probably be on our 4th line at best, and only takes away playing time from younger guys like Studnicka or Hoglander. Losing Myers weakens an already weak position. If the Canucks move Myers, it will be with either no cap coming back or a RHD coming back. Yes, this technically saves us $1.5 mil, but then we have to take that $1.5 mil and add another $3-4 mil to pay for a Myers replacement at like $4-5 mil, meaning while this deal technically clears $1.5 mil, we actually clear $6 mil (Myers), but add $4.5 mil (Hoffman) plus $4-5 mil (Myers replacement), meaning we actually add about $3-4 mil in cap.
