It wpuld be stupid for the habs to do.

Roy is a ufa in 2 years while harris is still under team control. He will be gone before the habs are good again.

Plus harris is already playing solid top 4 mins and roy isnt a top pairing guy so the "improvement" doesnt justify the age and contract gap remotely

i should've mentioned he comes with an extension.

and harris is gonna be great but we have too many ld. we need good rd to help develop the ghule, xhekaj and all the others coming.

you can't just throw young guys in the nhl without protecting them a little bit.

If you want Sean Durzi, I'm sure the Kings would be happy to consider it.

Matt Roy is a non-starter.

Roy was a top-pairing D on a playoff team for over 40 games last year, plus the playoffs. And he already IS a top-4 D. Why would the Kings downgrade for a question mark, just because they have excess on the right? As is said above, Sean Durzi is available. As is Sean Walker. Matt Roy is not.

I think Matt Roy could become available but they are going to have to be getting a proven top 4 LD, with similar skill set/ability. You definitely are right about the Kings not trading him for an unproven player.

Matt Roy is a top 4 defenseman now and a very strong shutdown one. Something LA overall lacks outside of Doughty. Walker or Durzi would probably be available in LA but certainly not Roy.

As for Harris, why would Montreal not just keep him? Roy could easily walk in 2 year and Harris has 5 years minimum of control still. The Habs certainly aren't a contender this year or next, hell they almost certainly aren't a playoff team in that time.

As the esteemed @Ledge_And_Dairy says, Doughty and Roy are our only two shut-down defensemen. We can't afford to lose Roy, as much as I love Harris' upside.

And I don't see how, in good conscience, you can trade Jordan Harris. He could have waited a couple of months after completing his collegiate career and then signed with any team in the NHL. Instead, he signed with Montreal. Trading him would seem to me to send a horrible message.

Solid defenseman whose career was derailed by a serious injury early last season. Playing his way back into prominence. Good enough that although right-handed, has been alternating at #2 LhD with Sean Durzi (opposite Matt Roy). I'm only trading him because we have Durzi and Jordan Spence behind Doughty, Roy and Brandt Clarke, and then only for a LhD.

I just don't really understand the purpose here? Why would Montreal be interested in trading young cost controlled players with plenty of term control for players with only 1 more year before UFA? Montreal is no where remotely close to competing and don't let your 2 upset wins fool you

We have a **** load of ld coming up and they need to be with more experienced partners so they can learn. And we can easily ressign him before his deal ends

Closest comparable to Sean Walker would be Nick Jensen from Washington, if you're familiar with him.

Beaudin is the only one close to NHL caliber at this point and besides that Hutson and Struble are the only ones who look like they have any amount of NHL potential. Maybe see who actually pans out before you make hasty decisions

As of right know we have ghule, harris, xhekaj, Hutson, strubble, trudeau, norlinder and beaudin. this is more then enough players to fill our left side. and that is without taking in edmunson or matheson.

Then you trade Edmundson for starters. Ghule, Harris, and Xhekaj are all playing in the NHL currently so I did not count them. Trudeau and Norlinder don't have particularly high ceilings so I wouldn't count them either. Again let your prospects develop before you do something rash. You never know who is going to pan out and who is going to flop

i get what you mean but for them to develop nicely they need to have partners that they can trust and right know we only have one. my goal with that trade is not to be better but better at developing them. we saw what team like edmonton and toronto did when they just threw alot of young players in the first team without having experienced players around. that's what i don't want to see
