Créé par: KM87
Équipe: 2022-23 Maple Leafs de Toronto
Date de création initiale: 25 oct. 2022
Publié: 25 oct. 2022
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Adding more versatility to the 3rd line. Laughton & Pearson are willing to throw the body more and go to the harder spots on the ice. Both still have offensive ability though & are responsible in their own end.
Schenn takes Mete's spot and will move to 7th D when Liljegren returns.
Dipietro wants a change and the Leafs curently need a #1 with the Marlies while Woll is still injured, Kallgren is up with the Leafs and the Marlies are currently deploying Petruzzelli and Ferguson as their 1 and 2.

Leafs certainly don't Pearson's 3.25m contract next season. If Laughton is such good value, why do the Flyers give up almost four years of Laughton for upcoming UDA Kerfort?
Gee, sure looks like the bottom enders on the Leafs are getting the blame again. Matthews, Marner and Bunting have been almost invisible on the scoreboard.

Pearson is on the 4th line on a winless team. But he absolutely will be way better on a much better team eh? I do like Laughton though

Schenn on a league minimum contract has value, especially with so many teams tight to the cap. He would get at least a 3rd in a trade. He and Pearson are easily the two best players in this trade. Not giving them up for two 4th liners and a meh prospect

Pearson is a 4th liner on the winless Canucks. And Schenn is a 7/8 Defenceman. Engvall is the best player in the trade.

Major disappointments for me. Idk what happens to players when they arrive in Toronto, but these 2 seem to have lost their passion and grit on the ice. Idk if it's Toronto's system or what it is.

It's probably more than you'll get for them anywhere else. You might get 4th rd picks for them at most. A 3rd if someone is truly desperate.

Engvall is better and cheaper than Pearson, and Schenn isn’t worth much. Abbruzzese is a solid enough prospect to be worth it for Schenn but I wouldn’t take this as the Leafs due to no space for Pearson + Schenn isn’t that noticable of an upgrade over Holl (less giveaways but worse offensively)

that really doesn't matter, you have to look at the teams situation. Schenn is a top 4 defenseman on the canucks, he protects his teammates and is a leader. Canucks will just hang on to him worst case scenario.

Perhaps Schenn could get a 3rd in a trade but I wouldn't say that the least he could fetch. It's definitely a terrible trade for both sides because it doesn't help the Leafs' cap situation or to improve their team, and Vancouver would be trading away a player that fills a need for players that would just add to the surplus of forwards that they have.

In terms of value though it's not way off.

Vancouver would probably want Diepetro's value in a pick over Abruzzese, but at the end it would be a prospect swap.

Getting rid of Pearson at 3.25mx2 for Engvall at 2.25mx1 is probably as valuable as the difference between Malgin and Schenn.
Explanation: Pearson might be better than Engvall but the difference is that Pearson had 1 less point in 10 less games, and for a player of Pearson's caliber that probably just means a few more points. Engvall is also basically a slightly less productive version of Mikheyev. Vancouver doesn't need Engvall though, but they can walk away from him next year while saving some cap and cash this year. Even if you value Malgin at 0, and Schenn at a second or third. That's probably what it would cost for Vancouver to dump Pearson next year anyways via trade.

So, the biggest reason for the Canucks not to do this trade is that they need Schenn just as much as Toronto does if not more, and not really the trade value. The trade isn't worth it for Toronto either though.

Puck possession systems do make hitting less prevalent. You can't hit when you have the puck

Engvall would be a healthy scratch/4th liner at best for the Canucks. Schenn is a 5/6 dman. Pearson is a middle 6 winger. They are the 2 best players in the trade

Your team is bad, how does a team of top 6 forwards, a top 5 goalie and the 2nd best defenceman in the game in Hughes, look so bad? It's everyone's fault but the players eh? Each and everyone are doing great but it's the other guys fault and it's the same for everyone. And yet, none of the players by themselves are to blame. This is my favorite part of this site, this argument. It contradicts itself and you'll die on this hill lol
