Isles might as well retain 50% on Bailey and trade him, this was it affects the cap for 1 year and not 2.

Bellows is not signing to be a scratch for another year, he will want to and deserves to go somewhere else to play.

Not sure what the issue with Pageau is for some fans lol. He’s more then proven his worth tbh.

I honestly think Pageau could get a reasonable return if he was put on the block. I don't think Lou does it though.

More likely he moves to wing imo. He’s done it before. And he has produced when he plays in a top six role.

I think there's two issue...one is that he *shouldn't* be a top 6 guy on a contending team, but having the option to move him up is valuable. The other issue is that there's really nobody in the contending team group that can afford him long term at this point, until the cap jumps. He's basically Adam Henrique with a bit more term. He's good, and if a team found cap space for him he'd be a solid add, but the return wouldn't be what you gave up for him originally. M-NTC might screw it up a bit as well.

All of that being said, the "Lou's big move (TM)!" is kind of a myth. Guy sticks with his players for better or worse.

He is not the problem it's the amount term left on his contract.

At 29 years old and 4 more years at a 5mil cap hit for a defensive minded 3C. He will barely give you 40 points, IMO these are the exact guys you don't overpay on. What kind of reasonable return do you think a team would give up for that?

IF the NYI are serious about a rebuild Pulock, Mayfield, Beauvillier, and Sorokin (cause who is to say if he even wants to resign here) are there only true trade pieces that other teams would want

I think it all depends on the structure of a trade. At this point, there's really no cap for contending teams to simply add him straight up. If someone dumped a bad contract on the Isles in exchange for him though, I could see a 2nd+, but again, it'd all depend on who was coming back. Given that the cap is supposed to jump over the next couple of years, I don't think the $5 mil is necessarily a game breaker. Again though, Lou isn't exactly known for massive sell-offs, so it's probably not even a consideration at this point.

I'd say trade Bailey and some picks to Toronto for Engvall/Kerfoot, buyout Palmieri at the end of the season, go all out in Free Agency

Unless they eat half his contract, getting a 2nd+ is pretty wishful IMO. Moving on from Nelson, Palmieri, and Pageau is going to be really difficult
