Chychrun was scoring at an unsustainable rate during his “breakout year.” Chances are it was an outlier season tbh. Arizona is deluding themselves with their asking price. Dude is injury prone, and the longer he stays in Arizona the more his value will plummet.

You have it backwards, the outlier year was this most recent year. Sure he had a really high shooting % but his underlying numbers are nearly the same in 19/20 to 20/21

Durability is a concern, on-ice ability is not. No matter what camp you're in on Chyrchrun, you can't deny that there are plenty of people who like him as a player. There is definitely a market for him that will get more competitive throughout the season IF he can stay healthy. It is a bit of a gamble by ARZ to wait until after the season starts and risk injury, but it could pay off for them. I'm sure they have 3-5 teams who are more than moderately interested. They will continue to negotiate for the best price. They have almost 6 months to make a deal.

He is a good player. But Arizona wants a return akin to that of a number one d man, and I’m not sold on the fact he is.

I mean his offensive numbers kind of cratered without his shooting percentage. At least compared to where he was the year before. He’s good, but I’m not sold on him being a number one guy. And I’m very concerned about his durability.

He's a top 25 dman in the league, a heavy minute muncher, and strong at both ends of the rink. Even if he is just a high end #2 like Weegar or Toews his contract is still fantastic

I would assume that Toews is better than him tbh. Weegar might be too. But in the metro alone I can name ten or twelve guys who r better than him.

10 or 12 in the Metro? Thats crazy. Most I can name for certain are 6. Slavin, Werenski, Hamilton, Fox, Letang, and Carlson. Who are your other 4-6? Pulock and Provorov are a bit below him, Pelech is better defensively but lacks the offense, DeAngelo, Burns, and Petry are definitely not better.

Chychrun can put up points on a a bad team. He hasn’t proven anything else lmao. He had a great season against seven teams in 56 games. And he shot about 400% that year lol.

When he had 26 points in 63 games and was plus 4? That’s nothing special. Pulock had more points and a better plus/minus that year too lol

Using Chara as an excuse is weak, especially considering we are talking about Chychrun here who played on the worst team in the league but was still quite strong defensively.



Pulock was 25 that year and Chychrun was 21. But I can see this is a waste of time since all you seem to understand is points and +/-, the 2 worst stats for measuring a defenseman's impact

The best way to measure a d man’s impact is how his team drives possession when he is on the ice. Pulock and Pelech have been elite in that regard for the past four or five years.
