We have no reason to add a 2nd to Shatty for a LD while our Ld pipeline is jam packed

Why would we trade Comtois at this point for scraps when his game is what Verbeek wants here in Anaheim, size wise and physicality wise

I don’t like the pieces coming back for Klingberg honestly, the 1 and 2 is nice but Poolman is a multi year cap dump which Verbeek has said he does not want

Minnesota declines. We aren't trading Brandon duhaime to take on cap dump. Duhaime is also cheap and seen as next Marcus foligno. So he's not getting traded for cap dump

I'm with our esteemed colleague @GeneralLandro on all three points he raises. I'm not a fan of the Toronto or Boston trades and I'm pretty sure that Minnesota passes on the Hornqvist deal.

Taking Holl and Sending Shatty with retention is more than enough for Sandin, who isn’t a significant upgrade over any of our LD and may not be better than any of them.

A player that posted good numbers in a sheltered role on a great team hasn’t proven anything more than Mahura, Vaakanienen or Benoit. No reason to make that deal for him when he may not be better than any of our current options

Sandin is very quickly becoming the most over valued, overrated player on this site. The difference between him and Vaak is minimal at best and I’d argue they are no different in terms of ceiling, value and current ability

I'm also in the Slow And Steady, Stay the Rebuild Course camp.

Pastujov - Zegras - Terry and Comtois -McTavish - Perreault is a pretty nice top 6 if Max regains his form and the two kids pan out. And we have other possibilities, too.

Doubtful Vancouver even makes the playoffs, So Klingberg isn't happening.

Kevin Shattenkirk has made it known in the past. That he has no desire to play in Canada. So i doubt he waives for Toronto.

Comtois should be worth a lot more than Nosek and 2 3rd round picks.

I'm of the opinion that Robertson is exactly the type of player we need to compliment our top line. That said, Comtois or McTavish may be able to fill that role sufficiently well. The only other guy I am immediately aware of that would fit the bill would be Meier, but I do not see any way we pry him loose from San Jose, the optics would never work.

I really like Robertson, he is all around a highly skilled player and he has a huge amount of drive to improve himself. Skating used to be his greatest flaw and he worked with NFL agility coaches to improve his first step and explosiveness in acceleration, which has paid off. I would offer 4 of the following 5 pieces. 2024 1st, ANA 2023 2nd, COL 2023 2nd, Pastujov, Comtois.

Ain't no way a non-contender like Vancouver trades a 2023 first and Hoglander for Klingberg. We didnt want him earlier, wont want him now

The difficult part is that Dallas still fancies themselves as a competitor after that cup run in 2020 and refuses to do a teardown, so they will want pieces back to help them win now, probably young and cost controlled pieces. Maybe, MAYBE we could leverage a 50% retained Henrique to help get it done as that would at least give them back a fair chunk of the goal scoring they are loosing out with Robertson, and with two years of well below market cap hit, that allows them to get some mercenaries to shore up areas of need.

IF Dallas demanded current roster players, the deal could look more like Henrique (50% ret), Comtois, 2024 1st. This would provide them with scoring to semi replace Robo, and some cap room to sign 1 year deals for the liked of E-Rod or Milano.

Hornqvist isn't cap dump when we add retention to him, he has positive value below a 3 mil cap hit. We'd be getting him from Florida as a dump because they are that far over the cap and he is the only fish big enough on an expiring contract to move. He had a down year statistically but still put up 28 points in 65 games.

That said, Minnesota probably isn't the right trading partner for him.

So that's just like, your opinion, man.

Maybe back it up with some stats or justification for "Hornqvist bad" to contribute to the conversation in a meaningful way? Yes, at 5.3 mil AAV, he has negative value, at 2.65 mil, he has positive value, especially for a team who needs a net-front pest. HIs advanced stats are the best they've been in three years last season. The only reason Florida would dump him is there is no other way to get below the cap without moving younger pieces they will need for the next few years.

Minnesota doesn't need a net front presence with Marcus foligno. Greenway, duhaime, Joel Eriksson ek, etc...

Yes, even I've admitted that Minnesota isn't the right trading partner for Hornqvist.... Did you not read that when I wrote it, two hours ago? No one is contesting that MIN doesn't need him. There are other teams who could use Hornqvist, and would give up futures to rent him at 2.65 mil, so simply saying "His contract is bad, you'd be lucky to get anything for him" is incorrect when you factor in that ANA would be retaining half his salary, to another team.
