That is a huge overpay for a guy that only plays like a first line center 40 of 82 games a year.

I just think that center position looks so good for CBJ, this seems like a unnecessary gamble. Pettersson who has struggled to become a point per game player after a very promising rookie season.

That is just my thoughts. Might have to deal one of the young guns eventually thou so you do have a point.

CBJ on a very good road to having a top team, this late in the off season and being bored til camp starts I just try and think of things that would make the team compete sooner. If they do nothing they are still in a very strong place rn

I think that’s too much for CBj to give up. Johnson has the potential to be too good.

Petterson is great but not exactly a sure thing as far as a dominant 1C goes. I think Miller is better now, though Petterson could be better in a couple years if he can unlock his potential and find consistency. Johnson is just too much to part with in either deal.

Yeah Kent is def way too much of an ask for JT but for Pettersson I think it isn't too much since he's younger and an RFA but still a tough trade to swallow

I think the cheaper contract years of KJ are going to be pretty valuable for the Jackets over the next several years. I'd rather keep him for that reason instead of getting Pettersson who will be negotiating a pricey extension very soon.

His consistency is not a problem. He’s just had brutal luck with injuries. There was a huge thing this off-season about how, for the first time in years, Pettersson is completely healthy

It would have to be way too much to be worth it. Pettersson is one of the best players on Vancouver and there’s no way there’re even answering calls on him.

They are not trading him. In general, it would take a very good roster player, A level prospect and a first.

I wouldn’t tbh, not sure I’d move top end ELCs right now with the current cap situation.

He struggled the first half of last season because he was still dealing with his wrist injury. Post all star break when he was healthy he played at a 40-50 goal, 100 point pace

he struggled all season except rookie season with consistency. Any decent player can be a 40-50 goal scorer if ignoring bad streaks, inconsistent play, and injuries and base it solely on when he is hot. Zibanejad did 41 goals on 57 games 2019-20. But I am not going around saying he is a 40 - 50 goal scorer. He is a 30 + goal scorer

Last season was first time Pettersson broke 30 goal mark, by the way.

Van should be open to possible trades like this, would take more than that to pry Petterson outta van though
