Description
Tried to go with trade offers I havent seen. Again, values might be way off but im trying to post a few rosters with trades to get an idea on how fans of other teams value their players. I focus mainly on the Canucks so have trouble valuing other players.

The miller trade? might be a giveaway or not fair from detroits view, i have no idea. It fills positional needs and clears cap space allowing to sign Klingberg to address another key need.

Might need to add a pick to the Arizona trade but lets pretend Crouse doesnt want to resign and they value hoglander which they should. Retain a good prospect to eat a meh contract

Flame away, or feel free to give suggestions on players you feel the canucks could target. Mainly RHD and 3C
Available:
Miller
Garland
Myers
Poolman
Pearson
potentially hoglander but would ideally like to keep.

If anyone has suggestions ill take those into consideration moving into my next mock roster

cheers everyone

Would cost probably a 2nd each to dump Poolman and Dickinson with how crazy the market is right now.

Two immediate take aways I have are that Columbus isn’t the location for Dickinson as they’re pretty cap strapped as is. I would also not give up on hoglander just yet. He still has a lot of upside and I think if he is given the proper opportunity, he can be a very good player. Crouse is a good target but if I was the canucks, I wouldn’t give up on hoglander to get him despite the fact the value is fair. Crouse could be a very good middle 6 winger on a contender if he is dealt to one.

Detroit declines. Detroit isn't trading that 1st for 1yr of Miller.

You could probably make a trade with CHI for RHD Murphy based around Hoglander....

Vancouver is in a tricky spot - division is weakest in league so legit chance to make playoffs but far from certain… if you are trying to make the playoffs, why would you trade Miller? And if you’re trying to fee up sap space to sign a few FAs to help you make the playoffs, you’ll have to add some draft picks to offload Dickson, Pearson or Poolman b/c they are pure cap dumps imo.

Value is fine, but Yzerman was very clear that he would not be trading 1st round picks. Detroit is not a trade partner, unless you want to give Miller to us for below market value.

Exactly, the division is terrible and thats what makes this whole situation tricky. MGMT claims we need to add prospects and add cap room, yet they sign enough forwards to ice three football teams. Which makes me assume theyre trying to compete now/in the next year or so due to the average age of our core.

I have a gut feeling, probably based off seeing Johnny hockey leave Calgary. Rumors are mostly BS, but assuming Miller does actually want to play in the US, I feel its worth trading him now to address team needs and free up cap space. Id prefer sign him honestly, and trade Garland instead. Which allows potential UFA signings ex Klingberg (Dumb rumors saying he's waiting for Canucks to clear cap space, which is why I went in that direction.

This trade I had close to zero idea how close or far I was value wise, I added the 1st without knowing Suter or Lidstroms value. Would you says aside from the draft pick, assuming Miller will resign in Detriot, how far off are we?

Completely agree on Hoglander, sadly I feel he has been buried and wont be given the shot he deserves, therefore I value him enough to dump a bad contract, and retain rights for a more suited player that fits the new "Bigger/Harder to play against" theme. Assuming Crouse doesnt want to sign in Arizona, lets pretend lol hows value assuming above?

Change the 1st to a 2nd and then Detroit accepts it, but Vancouver shouldn't. There is not a trade to be made here, unless Vancouver wants to lose on the trade.

First general piece of advice, stop believing what you hear in the media. They need to sell their product, and 98% of what they say is either made up, extrapolation or purposely leaked to them to by an agent or team management. They sensationalize everything in this market.

Here is what we know about JT Miller. He's a PPG player coming off a 100 point season that helps the Canucks win games RIGHT NOW. This team is not in a rebuild. Rutherford has consistently said, publicly, that they want JT Miller in Vancouver, but because of the team's cap situation, it needs to be on a team friendly contract. They don't move Miller unless, as it is with every player, someone makes an offer they can't refuse. Until then, they wait for TDL, and see how things look then, while continuing to try for an extension. They certainly don't make the trade you have suggested here, at least not now.

It's tough to opine on Poolman right now because of his health. At the moment, I don't see a market for him. Better to keep him, hope he stays healthy and has a bounce back year.

Dickinson, I would buy out. I don't see a market, and he is IMO, after watching him for a year, a fourth line player. Too much to be spending on a fourth liner. But they seem intent on keeping him and hoping for the best instead of turning him into dead cap space, so expect him in the lineup in October.

I don't get this market and Pearson. Again, stop listening to the media and look at the numbers. Yup, he had a bad shortened season in 20-21 and a rough start last year. He's certainly not alone amongst Canuck players in that regard. But overall, his numbers aren't that far off from Palat's, who just signed for 6 mil per at 30 years old. Pearson's contract is a value deal. He scores like a second line player in todays NHL and is paid paid like a third liner, He can play effectively with top players, and is one of the few Canucks who goes to the net with any consistency. Treating him like a cap dump is just foolishness.

Hoglander is a player I would consider moving on while his potential is still a selling point, but there is no reason right now to sell low on him.

If anything else gets done, I would look to Garland or OEL. Those are the contracts I think this group would most like to get out of, because of their term. I don't see much happening on OEL because of his NTC, but I can certainly see Garland in play.

I completely agree, media to me is nothing but a starting point to base hypotheticals off of. I don't believe anything I hear until its confirmed, however rumors do give me a reason to do mock trades to see how the roster would pan out, in a dream world etc.

Honestly, I love the idea of having Miller long term. However, long term if they ever plan on getting a true RHD for Hughes, Id rather bank on our current younger forwards, and start allocating cap to younger high end dmen. If we are paying Petterson, Horvat, Boeser, Podkolzin?, Garland? Mikheyev? etc etc long term, I see more value in adding to the defence rather than keeping Miller (Easier said than done, i know...Assuming in some reality theres a trade for Miller that makes sense and people can agree on lol)

The problem I'm having is deciding which forwards stay/ which should go/ which have more value/ who fits long term plan etc etc. With the additions of Kuzmenko and Mikheyev, there is just too many forwards. I have no problem with Pearson, under appreciated by many in my own opinion. Dickenson can go, how ever we make that happen. Buyout etc.

Poolman was moved out due to signing Klingberg, otherwise I do see potential of him having a bounce back season depending on health.

Basically my final thought process is, which players are either a) above the ideal age of core b) have enough value to entice teams, which frees up cap. Example being Pearson, Id rather not move him, but when looking at line combinations, he seems to be expendable, especially if younger players are given more ice time/bigger roles.

Im all over the place with my thoughts my apologies lol

Give Dickinson a chance to bounce back, he's not worth buying out. Better just to keep him. Canucks don't want to move Garland, he's under a great contract, especially not with how the market for wingers isn't very robust

Doesn't make sense to give up on Hoglander right now, not while he has another year remaining on his ELC

Agree that fans have to stop treating Pearson like a cap dump, cause he isn't one. Canucks fans think every middle class is automatically a cap dump, maybe it's because they've been conditioned to think that way because the previous regime had a bad habit of overpaying for lower class talent, they don't bother to look at asset values on a case by case basis

Buying out Dickinson would be overly reactionary and irresponsible. He's only been with the team a year and deserves a chance to bounce back and rebuild his value
