If that's your breakdown than the leafs pay a second to Arizona to do the retention on his way through to LA, that's just greed.

So Toronto gives you a 1st and a 2nd to dump Muzzin's $5.625M on the Ducks...

...who then turn around and get LA to not only give them a 1st and a 3rd for Muzzin with retention, but they also throw in one of their franchise icons so he can go down the road and be backup for their closest geographic rival.

I mean, you know that's ridiculous right? If LA -really- wanted Muzzin, and he was willing to waive for that deal, it would be miles easier for LA & Toronto to throw a pair of mid-round picks at Buffalo or whoever to eat the $2.8125 you're eating here, instead of both teams dumping 1st rounders.
