No it's not. Trust me. Monahan is not worth that trade with how he has played the last few years. He is at max a 3rd IMO.

From CGY perspective- moving Monahan is a cap dump. There is no reality where a 6M + cap dump brings back assets- let alone a 1st AND a very promising prospect. Take out Jones and all the picks...Monahan + 4th for Henriksson. Anything more going back to CGY involves salary retention.

You might get a 3rd rounder from them, but I wouldn't count on it.

Well, we are rebuilding. So, we are not going to use draft picks to acquire a 26 year old backup goaltenders negotiating rights for a few days, especially not at that price. We can just get mediocre goaltending in free agency while we tank next year and wait for Soderblom and Commesso to develop.

Depending on how things go with the JG and MT negotiations CGY is really strapped for cap. Just the reality of the CAP era...any team dealing from a position of weakness really gets the screws put to them. If Gaudreau decides to move on, though- and they don't compensate with a big signing- then CGY I'm guessing would have a much different stance in a Monahan move.

If the Rangers give all that up for Monahan after trading all the assets they did at the TDL and selling Buch for pennies all in the same calendar year I will lose my mind. Just sign Stastny or overpay Copp for one year or something at that point.
