I think even with first two trades, you're looking at pretty solid group, and while I like pickup of Forsberg at LW, with a RIGHT DEFENSE of Ellis, Risto, 5th Overall pick, Attard or a stay at home vet 3RD, I dont think Klingberg is needed.

Any Avs fan that proposed that was drinking or 420ing it. That doesn’t make COL better next season and it definitely makes them worse after that. If COL moves Girard, IF, it’s going to be for a cost controlled top 6 forward, because part of the impetus for moving Girard would be to bring Manson back AND get forward help.

Yes they probably get a better return elsewhere and certainly if theyre moving Girard they would most likely want what they lack a 2C, my thinking was that their defense stays great and they get cap savings, and they get a quality RD prospect.

Really depends on how you see Sanheim and Attard.

Some see Sanheim as just as good/better, but slightly different type of dman and some see Attard as a ready now B+ RD prospect, both of which IMO help COL this year and helps them afford to get the 2C while providing Attard for the future without endangering their ability to do their key re-signs in 23-24.

If you see Sanheim as a downgrade, the cap space and Attard as a meh prospect, then yes completely bad move. Is Attard alone in 23-24 = Girard and his 5mil in 23-24 probably not, but Attard, prospect, pick AND the cap space, maybe. But then I think Byram should be 2LD now and I think Manson should be resigned.

Ultimately you'll find both fans wont agree on that. But Sanheim at 1 yr at 2.3mil and Attard, and Ratcliffe and pick = Girard at 5 yrs at 5mil isnt too bad. Depends how you see Girard, how you see Sanheim, how you see Attard, and how you see Byram. I think Sanheim is only tradeable for the same reason Girard would be (elevation of Byram/York).

If you see Sanheim versus Girard is isolation and then present their stats in isolation of the quality of the team, its not an honest refelction of the player or the value of the trade package.

COL won the cup without Girard AND Burakovsky, if they can retain all other cup pieces (but not Burakovsky and Girard) and get Sanheim, Attard, those other pieces, thats better. (I believe the COL thread called for Johnson to be dealt or retire, which freed up monies to replace Burakovsky)

Girard got caved in this year and wasn’t exactly producing strong results outside of the 56 game season where the Avs played only 16 games against real teams. Awful against Vegas and iirc the Blues were all over him in the game 2 from this year. I’m taking Sanheim all day every day if I can sign him.

Those numbers are with the Avs so they are inflated. He’s not doing that with the Flyers. I wouldn’t pay him $5m per.

One of my keys to that series was literally “target the Girard-Manson pair often.” They were great in game 1 when the Avs were flying but the Blues smoked those two specifically in game 2. Bryan taking a bigger role was a huge reason the Avs eventually rolled over the Blues and eventually went all the way.

Not what I said at all, but Girard was a gap in the armor and had a pretty ugly year.

To me, sticking with TK and Provorov has run it's course. They aren't what we need them to be. VT is a proven sniper, a type of player we haven't had since Gagne, which really tells you something about how we draft. Provy would be a solid 1a/1b type guy on a team like STL with their system, and guys like Faulk, Krug, and Parayko to play with. He's not a number one yet we are trying him as one. Dumba though seems like he can handle a bigger load and not be as exposed as Provy has been. Plus, placing him with an offensive minded dman like Klingberg allows him to concentrate on defense first, and can also help our PK.
