Description
I believe it is in the best interest of both the team and Drouin for him to be a buyout candidate for this offseason.

I have several key targets that MTL would need to acquire extra 1st round picks to draft and they are:

1. Shane Wright (the obvious one)
2. Simon Nemec OR David Jiricek, whichever is available at 5
3. Jimmy Snuggerud
4. Ivan Miroshnichenko
5. Nathan Gaucher
6. Tristan Luneau

Of the list above, it is more likely that MTL can obtain 1st round picks between 14 - 25 then it is to acquire the 5th overall pick from PHI, therefore while I would love to add one of those big RHD at 5th overall, I don't do it here. However I try and swing deals to get a late teens or early 20s pick for Snuggerud, keep our CGY pick to draft Miroshnichenko and acquire another early 2nd to draft Luneau(draft Gaucher with MTL own 2nd)

Unfortunately Price will not play more then 11 games in 2022-2023 (my prediction), but I kept him on IR and kept our cap positive without dipping into LTIR as I believe Price will make at least 2 comeback attempts during the season. He LTIRetires in the 2022-2023 offseason.

The roster constructed below would be the roster to start the 2022-2023 season. Dadonov and Byron hopefully get traded at the TDL (most likely only Dadonov with only 1 more retention slot available).

Arizona is going to have their choice of cap dump.....especially with front loaded contracts they would like. Teams better be prepared to add sweeteners....lots of sellers few buyers.
You lost a lot of us when you said 35 point Anderson at 5.5m X 5 years is worth a first rounder plus......Only Habs fans think that.

Rather have Boqvist who's getting really comfortable at 3C over a declining Andersson signed to a bad contract.

ARZ deal says it all
Bryan Little has 2 years a 5.2m
WPG had to give up a B level prospect and got a 4th round pick in return

Palhal is just wrong
Its why i blocked him he quotes stuff outta context
He brings up what ARZ will demand then ignores what they just got in the same scenario
Its a pattern with him

I'd rather have Anderson personally
Dvorak had 17pts in 22 games under MSL who played him in a 3rd line role
He had 72% faceoff win rate and was a force in our back end as well

I just dont see how Boqvist fits especially with Evans rise upon Pitlicks arrival with their Chemistry reminding me of Byron-Danault when they both arrived
With Wright coming to MTL and Suzuki or #1 Center i just dont see how Poehling fits in let alone Boqvist

There’s no point in buying out Drouin. I’d let him try his luck out with St.Louis as coach and then trade him at the deadline if needed. Trading away Sean Farrell for another pick seems like a waste. Habs have enough picks, they need to give their prospects a chance. Lastly, Montreal won’t retain for multiple years on Armias contract. They’ll probably just use him for the next few years while the team rebuilds.

What a silly argument and non factual argument you presented. FYI, Chariot was rental, contending teams tend to "load up" for a playoff run. Teams aren't. responsible for his cap after the season and took on very little cap for the half season they had acquired him. Same with Lehkonen, though he is a RFA, Avs can walk away from his new contract or trade him.
How can you compare Toffoli on the ice or his contract to Anderson. Toffoli was superior to Anderson in Montreal and certainly has been even better in Montreal, and his 4.25m contract is better than Andersons.

Allen 50% retained isn't worth a first, and if Hagelin isn't LTIRetired I would rather have him than Armia. Caps give you a third for Allen no retention and thats it. He has literally had one good season in the last 6 years and it was when he played 24 games as a backup. The last time he played as a true no 1 was in STL in 2017 and he was bad.

My exact point is I, as a Habs fan, would be the better judge or what the MTL players would/would not be worth. You can go right ahead and call my statement a "silly little argument" but the FACT remains that when you (non Hab fans) dumped BS upon BS about how MTL would be lucky to get a 1st for Chiarot....etc etc....all that was just your hatred for the Habs. It's not even hockey knowledge, it's just stupid comments by people who just want to be silly little haters who cannot stand seeing the Habs do something good for the team.

Mark my words that if Anderson gets traded this offseason, that Kenny Hughes will get a 1st plus for him.

Well beats your pattern of homerism. Little on a 5.2m X 2 contract??? He's on LTIR the rest of his career....just adds to the Arizona cap and costs little or no money.

So tired. Literal every insider says its a reasonable deal around the league but yea lets hear from the bias Devils fan base that rejects Guhle (cause they dont need him?) Anderson (Cap dump) 2023 1st RD (may not be top2 though top 10 are all better than top2 in this draft) all that for the 2OA this draft. I literally predicted they would come in to say no after a half dozen Habs fans said they wouldnt do the trade for 2OA just for the 2023 pick which is the right move.

Anyone that can read at this point knows they are getting a 1st. That will be the same storyline after the deal if it happens. WE ALL KNEW BUT IT WASNT JUSTIFIED CAUSE GMS ARE DUMB. just like Lehkonen was a dumb move for the Avs to give up too much yet they won the Cup. Ridiculous thinking.

Trade does nothing for Mtl. Calling a 28 year old declining is hilarious when that is the prime age for a power forward. They dont need small wingers. Anderson is a rare commodity either they get a legit prospect and high pick or they keep Anderson. They dont need to move him. The only reason is name is out there is because many teams are calling. You don't desperately try to trade a 28 year old signed long term that is happy playing in Montreal because he might get old, very dumb logic from the naysayers. It never ends.. he's too young..?? unproven..?? hes too old..?? or he will be too old??

I said i'd rather Anderson and that Dvorak offers more then Boqvist anyways
I agree with your logic in general here

I didnt make a mistake but im not quoting the same person twice.
I wouldnt trade Anderson for the 13th OA which has been rumoured. After all, if Nazar or Yurov isnt there at 13th, who's left in that range but a bunch of maybes?? They have 14 picks this draft, they need quality not maybes.
It doesnt matter what ppl think Anderson can do on the ice because he's a different beast. Gms are paying for scarcity, you dont say paying millions of dollars for a hockey card, is just worthless piece of paper in the end but if ppl are willing to pay then that is the price. Gms are willing to pay for Anderson and we already saw it with Domi and a 3rd despite Josh having no contract and coming off a serious injury.

Lambert for one
Bad year has seen him drop but before this year he was ranked as high as 4th OA for a reason
He's a Lars Eller type complete player who plays a strong Center game with great Faceoff skills who will be ready as Dvorak's deal ends

But i wouldnt trade him unless we were getting a Dufour, Bellows and a 1st in 2023 type return
Increase our odds in next years draft which many consider deepest since Matthews draft
Dufour is a more Compact version of Anderson who's a Quebec Born Goal Scorer so MTL would love that

I wouldnt give him away but i would take an overpay

Yeah, if Lambert is there, correct but doubtful. Hard to see a team like the Sens pass on him (unless they trade the pick) and as you said he started the year as a top5 pick. I could add Kemell to that list as well but i think hes guaranteed top10. Who really knows. This draft is so wide open because so many teams are in cap trouble and are open to trade picks. Meanwhile teams like the Habs and Ducks both have 4 picks in the top 2 rounds and are looking to move up.

Kemmel to me is going 5th or 6th OA
On paper people will argue he's a winger and there's more value in others in the draft

My argument is he's 1/3 NHL ready players including Wright ,Slafkovsky and Kemmel
Of the 3 Kemmel is by far the most prepared to play in a Mens Pro League

While many place value on Longterm
There's teams like PHI who could see their D core is good but a Kemmel on Wing could really go a long way
CBJ could also see value in taking him for the same reason

Outside those 3 all the rest as players who will need minimum 1 year development and that will always effect where people are picked.
Its why i dont think Cooley will go top 3 either over Wright , Slappy and Savoie
Size is the only reason many count him out same as they did Caufield,Gaudreau,Debrincat, ext and as time goes on these players arent falling as far in the draft
That said ARZ has 3rd OA so they'll probably choose someone projected 8th-14th like last time they had a top 5 pick hahaha
