I don’t disagree with you. I just think any team that tries to trade for him would need to overpay.

Easy no from Boston. They are trading away LD as they have to many as it is. They also have to many small d men. Smith is exactly what they don’t need.

Not really when you actually break it down.

Severson is another Jake Gardiner type of guy and he’s only got 1 year left on his deal - there was a reason why Gardiner was ran out of Toronto and Severson likely wouldn’t fair too well either.

Holtz is a good prospect but he’s just that. He could be a stud or a bust, no one knows yet and moving a guy like Marner requires something known that’s good going back.

Tatar and McLeod are nothing more than bottom 6 guys - Tatar likely thrown in as part of a cap neutralizing player and he’s not really of any value to Toronto because they’re already full on wingers and prospects that play the wing.

2nd overall is nice, but again just a prospect. Same with the future pick. & when Toronto is trying to win now those don’t help at all.

Marner is a top 10 player in the league, it’s gonna take at least 4-5 quality assists to help the team win now to get him out of Toronto. This offer isn’t really it. It has value, sure. But it’s not the type of value for a Marner deal

There is so much wrong with what you just said, that it convinced me that I grossly overpaid for Marner. Thanks!

Wild to see someone actually put together a package the leafs would move marner for. I thought that was illegal

He's right about tatar and mcleod at least, but they're inconsequential to the rest of the trade. Severson is good, if not a need but holtz and two firsts including the 2OA and a probable bottom 15 pick in a crazy draft next year are very good

Not one thing I said was wrong actually. & just because you disagree with it, doesn’t make it wrong. Teams that are trying to win don’t value prospects and high picks as much because those don’t help a team win for usually 3-5 years minimum. The only piece you’ve moved that helps Toronto achieve their goal of winning is Severson and he’d be a 1 year rental. & it’s actually downgrading the team to loss Marner and add Severson. The rest of the package is too much unknown to be valued by Toronto.

I threw it in there, mostly to see what the response would be. I’m not sure if his worth, but he would probably be the odd man out on this roster

It’s pretty much a given that the odd man out doesn’t get a first

That’s a good point lol
There’s no actual scenario I could see Ty a smith traded though. I know Devs management is very cautious of moving him because of the ceiling they expect he has. I was just curious to how the trade would be received with my roster full of pipe dreams

Ty Smith has been brutal in the NHL. No way he returns a first. Vegas wouldn’t do that bc they still take a lot of cap back and give up Hague who's been good in both ends. Washington would take that trade.

Ty had a promising rookie year. This year was definitely brutal though

Vegas would save a couple million in that deal, considering how much Hague May cost vs Zacha. I see Zacha doing a short term with a 3M AAV as a prove it deal before

Washington is one I’m not sure about the value, so that’s nice to hear. It would be a bit of a risk to grab Wood, but if he returns to form he can be a huge steal

Carolina drafted Kuokkanen, didn't want him. Stillman is nice, but not anything interesting. Just give up a 2nd for Bear. It's most likely Bear will be shipped out anyway, but spare parts won't be the return I think.... never say never with Donny Waddell, but I have faith.

I’m assuming his value is not very high in the Canes Front Office, considering he hasn’t been able to crack the lineup this playoffs.

You don't think there's a reason for that? He's going to play against NYR/PIT because they're not as dirty as Boston, which is why Cole and Smith played together. Cole and Smith have been DOG SH*T but they're able to knock players out. Just because he doesn't play against an opponent notorious for getting dirty when things don't go their way, doesn't mean he's not highly rated. And even if he's not, there's going to be a thousand better offers than this for him
