oilers would never do that. there are much cheaper and better options available to add. Sorry but unless a team want to give the habs charity, they are stuck with price

No one is going to take on that Price contract without being compensated for it. You'd have to retain heavily to move it.

I don't get all the hate for one of the best goalies of all time (probably somewhere in the top 20), is it just jealousy or is everyone still mad about the Habs beating their teams last year in the playoffs? Whatever the reason, Price has said he is not waiving his NMC at this time because he and his family have built a life in Montreal and this does not even come close to what it would take to convince Hughes and Gorton to ask Price to waive anyway.

If price is healthy he's still a middling goalie 98% of the time and one playoff run doesnt change that

Because he's been not good for most of the past 4+ years. It's pretty obvious

HABS don`t want Koskinen. They do the OILERS a favor by taking him off their books and leaving him as a UFA for some other team to sign.

And what sort of favour is edmonton doing montreal by getting them out of that awful price deal? Gotta be at least 2 1st rounders worth

They get eliminated in the 1st round with Koskinen in net

How is that worse than not making it with price? You do realise that he's been so bad the past 4 season that the habs wouldn't have played a single playoff game without covid right?

Koskinen's salary is paid in full as of the last day of the regular season, so there's not saving the Oilers any money with an offseason trade. Including Koskinen in this trade is less useful than sending Montreal a bag of pucks - he's literally not an asset.

Well come the end of the Oilers season, Koskinen is reality off the books. But really posts like this are kinda silly. Since the Oilers are taking on the most cap, an Oiler roster should be posted. Even if Price was fair value at 10.5m, sure doesn't look cap compliant for the Oilers without further dismantling their roster.

The OILERS need to either re-sign him or sign a UFA Goalie (not much available). So eventually the HABS would retain whatever scenario OILERS will have

Might I advise viewing this from EDM's perspective before posting it?

Koskinen will already be off the books by the time of this proposed trade of yours so there's literally zero gain from moving Koskinen in the deal. Meanwhile, they absorb an extra 6mil in cap which leaves them with less than 3mil to re-sign hmmm: Puljujarvi, Yamamoto, McLeod, and maybe Kane, Kulak, and potential UFA additions. This means the actual "cost" of acquiring Price would also include the loss of those players/assets that would need to be moved out.

Missing some of the nuances of a team's situation is fine, but this pretty glaringly ignores just about every aspect of EDM's situation outside of goaltending.

The HABS played 19 games in April in 2021 because of COVID and made the playoffs and went to the FINAL. They had the worst schedule of any team that year with all their players off with COVID. Price carried the team. You obviously don`t see it.

What a weird thing to say in response to pointing out a goalie hasnt been good outside of a single playoff run in years.

I can told that Austin Mattews is bad because he never win a playoff serie... but it's not a good argument, it's similar as Price is a average goalie. Good luck
