Description
Alright, a lot is happening here and this is assuming that Mark and Blake are out but we still want to compete with the rest of our core right now.

Scheif for Laine in an ironic twist. Laine goes back to the place he never should have left and we remove the reasons why he wanted out. Columbus gets a PPG top line center with an extra year of team control.

Nobody is going to like this Sens trade on either side. This is assuming that Norris doesn't want to go long term with the Sens or that with the ownership situation in flux they don't want to add a large contract to the books so they move Norris for Perfetti to form a different but still excellent part of thier core but he's on an ELC for 2 more years. Then they also trade down in the draft while adding Heinola so their left D is gross with Chabot, Sanderson and Heinola to pair with Zub, JBD, Branstrom, Thomson on the right. Jets get to draft Jiricek with Ottawa's pick. Ottawa will have a lot of great choices at forward still at 13/14 overall. Norris broke out big time this year as a 30+ goal scorer at 22 years old and forms a 1/2 punch of PLD/Norris long term in Winnipeg. Everyone hates it but it works for everyone.

Then my standard Schmidt to Detroit for a 3rd trade and Stanley to LA for Grans. I've seen agreement from these fanbases on these trades before so shouldn't be controversial.

Buffalo has a logjam of tenders so we trade our underperforming former 1st round pick for the worst of the bunch in Portillo to be a potential Helle replacement.

Then I sign a couple glue guys for the room in Bitteto and Deslauriers. Bitteto should never step foot on the ice as we should call up and play someone from the AHL instead.

Let me have it!!!!

So the OTT trade.

OTT's 2022 1st looks to be ~5-8OA, so already higher than Perfetti was taken

Combine that with the fact that Norris was doing better than what Perfetti was doing in the AHL at 20, OTTs need for a top6 C and the built in chemistry, this isnt enough.

Heinola is nice, but redundant on the left hand side behind Chabot, Sanderson and Branny.

Credit though, these are massive moves, and I havent seen a Norris for Perfetti swap before.

Just trying to do something a little different with some big names that people won't want to trade. Appreciate the feedback and won't pretend to know the Sens better than you do. I just thought Branny was playing on the right even though he is a left hand shot. Anyhow, I agree that Heinola on the 3rd pair is kind of wasted but that is a stacked dcore and with them all being in their early 20s it would be there for the next half decade at least.

Ottawa picks 5-8 and the Jets will pick 13-14. The rankings are all over the place but at that spot you could get another center. I view Wright, Cooley, Slafkovsky, Nemec, Savoie and Kemmell is the likely top 6 and then we would take Juricek whenever we picked so that is 7 picks. For guys that could play C that leaves Nazar, Geekie, Lekkerimaki that probably also go before that pick but you could be sitting there drafting Lambert or Kasper, plus having perfetti and Heinola.

Anyhow I appreciate the feedback. I can't see the Jets being willing to part with much more to make that happen especially if it's just moving 5 spots in the draft.

The Ottawa trade would get us in a position to draft a top RD but JoMo - DeMelo has been passible for a top pairing and Samberg - Pionk will also work well. Dillon and Kov provides a big bodied 3rd pair. Addition by subtration in not allowing the Stanley - Dillon pairing to happen anymore and also moving away from the Dillon - Pionk pairing which hasn't had great results.

Adding a prospect like Grans also has top pair upside but likely is a middle pair guy. No immediate help but makes the future look bright and helps shore up some premium positions at top 6 Cs and top 4 RHD in a few years.

If Buffalo starts to believe that Portillo will not sign with them then they would consider trading him. I’m not sure that Vesalainen is the guy they would target in return.

Really like the effort and new though but Norris probably doesn't move conisdering how good he is with Batherson and Tkachuk, He was also on pace for 40+ goals so the Jets would probably need to add more cause a Perfetti for Norris swap for Ottawa just isn't enough. But I would consider moving Pinto other than Norris who has a year left on his ELC and could be an elite two way center. Even then I don't know how I'd feel about that deal.

Looking at the trade with Ottawa, it's basically ...

1. Norris for Perfetti

2. 7th overall for 13th overall, assuming nothing happens at the draft lottery

3. Ville Heinola to make up for all the value that Ottawa lost in the trade

Yeah, that's a no-go.

Totally fair. I've been trying to get any Sabres fan to even give me a ballpark of what they'd want for him and nobody has really given me an answer so I tossed out a change of scenery type player as an example. Could be someone else obviously.

That's fair and sort of the way I was looking at things to. I probably overvalue Perfetti because I've seen him play and know that he should have had a bunch more apples with the Jets if anyone could finish the chances he was putting on people's sticks and Norris has broken out this year but it makes me nervous because is that who he is now, or is it like a William Karlson type season that he doesn't ever replicate again. Granted Karlson was 24 and Norris is 22 but it's still risky for me because I haven't caught a bunch of Sens games either.

I thought Giving up Heinola to jump up 5 spots was an overpayment so I thought that would help bridge the gap from Perfetti to Norris.

I knew nobody would like it but was interested in the feedback.

Someone above pointed out that Heinola doesn't really move the needle for the Sens but he and Perfetti are our top 2 prospects so I wanted to throw out the sexiest names I could and see what the response was. Was trying to make it spicy,

I guess I was just looking for an emerging top 6 C that has proven more in the NHL than a Pinto level, but that is an interesting name.

The thing that really appealed to me was the pick so maybe I should have done something without Perfetti & Norris as I really love Perfetti. Maybe picks 13 + 28 for 8 or maybe 13 + Lucius for 8? Anyhow, I appreciate the discussion.

I've seen 13 + Heinola for the 8th in which case I would do it but I would also take Lucius in a heartbeat but Heinola would make our LD side incredibly good with Chabot, Sanderson, and Heinola.

I try to do things that I think are overpays so that maybe someone from the other fanbase would say yes. I don't really think I'm overpaying that badly but the point is to make it spicy.

I'm assuming you don't like Vesalainen for a goalie prospect that may not even sign here. I think Stanley for Grans is fair as Grans is a RHD and you pay a premium for that and Stanley is redundent here as the left side is loaded. He's who they would want.

Scheif is an overpay for Laine but Laine is a PPG player this year 2. PPG 1C with 2 years of team control at sweet caphit vs PPG winger with 1 year of team control that will be more expensive. I still had people saying that Columbus would say no so... We should get more but it was just fun to pretend we got Laine back and a 1C is really what they need. They should add but...

The Ottawa trade basically replaces Scheif as a 1C and you run Norris (who scored 40 goals this year) and PLD as our Cs long term as they are both 23. With their pick we take Jiricek and have a prospect with top pair potential for the next core to go along with JMo, Samberg and Chisholm long term but with Dillon short term. Then our right D is Jiricek, Grans, Kovacevic, Gawanke, Lundmark. It keeps the current core competitive and sets up the final premium piece needed for the next core to really compete. Well, we still need to figure out a goalie too and they are voodoo. They'd never trade Norris and draft picks can bust but I tried to put something together that both sides would hate... mission accomplished.
