I like that daws, I think devils should commit to a tandem of Blackwood and daws, but I’m a jets fan and that trade peaks my interest especially if Daws ready to possibly commit longterm. We would have to include some other guys though if helly is moved, there would be a bit of a retool younger, with jets moving on from Schmidt, demelo, and Dillon. Scheifele would be dealt also, wheeler possibly but not retained or given away. Patience devils fan, a little retool of blueline and some experience up front and your tending will look much better.

In any event, Cheveldayoff isn't trying to fire himself by trading Hellebuyck. The letter by the owner to season ticket holders suggest they are still going for it.

Value wise is looks pretty good, needs wise, I think the Jets might prefer a right shot winger or defenseman instead of Foote.

Obviously Helly is gonna have much higher GSAx if he's playing 15-25 more games than Schneider did.
The Helly / Schneids comp gets even better if you switch from cumulative GSAx to a standardised rate ie GSAx/60.

Blackwood and Daws on paper looks good for future.

But just for context, Devils fans have been broken and beaten with the goaltending we have seen this year. We are desperate. The rest of the team is in pretty good shape. Still developing in some areas, but in track for being a young group.

I think we compete for a playoff spot next year with good goaltending (and good health).
