I watch both Fiala and Sharan on the regular and it seems to me like Sharan thrives off his teammates which isn’t entirely terrible but Fiala is a stud at creating by himself. Fiala has played with 3rd line forwards basically his entire career and always puts up great stats. NJ front office might not be interested but it seems like a fair trade to me.

I think OTT declines. They've already brought in Hamonic who, to everyone's shock, is playing very well for Ottawa.
So they currently have Zub, Hamonic, Zaitsev, Thomson, and JBD on the right side.
Ottawa is not a Cup threat next season. Makes no sense to give up Jarventie and top 40 pick for Dumba who's in his UFA season.
Jarventie and our 2023 1st for Fiala? That's the deal we're looking for.

I’m not sure that’d convince Guerin to trade Fiala. Jarventie is a promising prospect so I’d assume he likes that part but I don’t think he’d want the 2023 1st, especially if it’s protected which I assume it would be. I could be wrong but I think he’d rather have a 2022 1st where he knows whether the pick will be low, high, or the middle.

It's not too far from fair value I'd think, favoring Wild a little as this saves them 5m in cap space and nets them one of the earliest 2nd rd picks for a player that will be very difficult for them to resign.
But I wouldn't want Devils to do this trade, even though I'm a big fan of Fiala's game and think he should be one of Devils primary targets in the offseason.
Should mention that I think Fiala currently is the better / more valuable player and would be ok with a one for one trade.
But I would much rather swapping Sharangovich with Zacha (+ that 2nd) for Fiala, which I think would be fair value and fit both teams quite well.

I’m sure the 2nd would be an interchangeable asset. I doubt not getting the 2nd is a deal breaker for Guerin as Sharan would be the main asset in the return.

Yes but it's in 1 year only, wherever the pick ends up, it's an asset Guerin would be able to trade if needed. And while the Sens should improve significantly next season (particularly if healthy), that pick will most likely be top-20 (in a great draft). Keep in mind the division the Sens play in, by far the best (IMO)

Sharangovich would be a very hard piece to give up, and I would not make this trade without a contract set for Fiala. But if the extension is set, it is plausible and likely close on value. My only reservation is based on roles. Rango is more of a shooter, and fits well with Hughes since he can take face-offs too. But swapping him for Fiala could potentially allow Bratt and Hughes to play together, with something like:

Bratt -- Hughes -- Mercer
Zacha -- Hischier -- Fiala
Tatar -- Boqvist -- Johnsson/Thompson
Wood -- McLeod -- Bastian

(Bench: Kuokkanen, Zetterlund, Foote)

The preference would be to move Zacha, even if we added a prospect like Zetterlund into deal. We would end up with line-up such as:

Sharangovich -- Hughes -- Mercer
Fiala -- Hischier -- Bratt
Tatar -- Boqvist -- Johnsson/Thompson
Wood -- McLeod -- Bastian

(Bench: Kuokkanen, Clarke, Foote)

Any Fiala deal needs to look no further then the Florida-Buffalo trade for Reinhart. The Reinhart return was a good prospect, Devon Levi, not Florida's top prospect, Spencer Knight, and a conditional 2022 1st rounder from Florida (top 10 protected). This is a Florida pick, who picked 24th overall the day before this trade went down. This pick is looking like it's going to be the same or higher this year. This isn't a lottery team in the bottom of the standings that could be in the bottom of the standings next year as well, in line for another lottery pick. There was literally zero chance that the pick included in this trade was going to be a lottery pick. It is also worth noting that Reinhart and Fiala are statistically very similar in point production, with the slight edge to Fiala, however Reinhart was playing on a tire fire of a team and Reinhart is a Centre which historically holds more value in a trade.

So, in my opinion, if the Sens are going after Fiala, maybe a guy like Jarvinte or Sokolov and possibly two 2nd round picks, the Ottawa 2022 and 2023 or the Tampa 2022 pick. The Ottawa 2022 2nd round pick will be in the ~38th overall range so, value wise, they only need to make up around 10-15 positions in the draft.

It's not something that the Minnesota fanbase wants to hear but regardless of which team trades for Fiala, if he does get dealt, you are most likely getting a high B prospect and a late first round pick or a combination of picks of that value.

Not necessarily. Markets change, supply and demand fluctuates. Adams isn’t the end all be all price setter for trades. It’s a reasonable comp to bring up in discussion, but let’s not act like its a forgone conclusion that MN doesn’t get anything more than that in value.

JT Miller to Vancouver, Duchene to Colombus, Trouba to NYR, Toffoli to Vancouver, Toffoli to Calgary. None of these are exact comparables but this is just a few. The base for these trades are a late, 20+ first, rounder and a B+ prospect at the time.

Not to say Fiala won't get more but don't get your hopes up. Look at what Buffalo fans had Eichel going for on here prior to his trade and look at that he went for.
