What’s the ask for Petry?
Fletch wants to retool not rebuild. Rather trade for Petry and have his contract for two more years than sign Risto for 6 or 7 years. Flyers need a steady RHD to pair with Provy to boost him back up.

Pretty sure you can just take him. Don't think there's much value at all

Do you find the proposed trade acceptable?

I mean, I don't know the market for Petry that well, but all I do know is he's had an abysmal season and if you pair that with injury issues, contract and age, I see a bad asset.

Petry is a top pairing D man signed to a reasonable cap hit for a top pairing D man. sure his season has been bad but considering all the things going on in his life (family issues, bad coaching, 2x Covid, injuries). I think it is forgivable. BTW to prove these things were most of the reasons for his bad play, just look at his last 6 games. He has 5 points in 6 games nearly doubling his season totals in just 6 games and puts him on pace for 25 points. After the season he has had this is an amazing number. Since the government announced that it was easing restrictions and Montreal made the coaching change Petry looks much happier on the ice, he looks to be back at full health and he looks like the Petry of the last 4 years. His value is actually on the rise and Hughes has already said that he would love to mend the fences and keep Petry in Montreal. All this to say that, if Jeff is as happy as it seems and he wants to stay he will not be moved.

On top of that. I think it was Friedman who said a couple weeks ago that if they are moving Petry, it is accepted by teams around the league that they will be paying the price for the Petry of old, not this current Petry who just came off a half season where everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong

I don't know what Petry's trade value is, because I'm not an NHL Executive. But I can tell you this: for a long time, Petry has been our best d-man, any given night. Good size, mobile, good pass, ok shot... no real issues. Certainly a Top-4 option on any team. This year has been, well, on par with everything else with the Habs! For me, worst part of his game has been his decision making, which tells me that he was really affected by the situation (both Covid and Team).

My guess is that new management would wait until the draft to trade him because his value may be at its lowest now. I would expect end-of-round 1st + B level prospect in return IF they go in that direction.

On one side, hater are like "He S oN tHe DeClInE"

On the other side Habs fans know what the got:
2G 3A in the last 5 games.

The truth is that we would never trade him if he didnt ask for it for personal personnal reasons.

Like Risto and Ellis, his value is a first (or A prospect) and roster RHD.

Could be a high second (or a B prospect) and a bottom pair player though, depending on the market.

At least DAL, PHI and DET have been reported as interested, so I'm not worried.

If the Habs could pry Konecny out the Flyers for him that's what I would be after. Apparently he has fallen out of favor in Philly? No idea why but he would be perfect for the Habs

I wouldn't take Petry unless Montreal is willing to retain.

Injury history? he has missed 9 games in the past 6 years lol. if thats a bad injury history then every player in the league has that issue. He has a rough start after 4 very solid years and has seemed to regain some of his confidence as of late, i know only 5 games but its still reassuring. I think the aav may be an issue for certain teams but i think habs would be willing to take back a bad contract in the 3-4mil range to balance that out and maximize the return.Theres no need for mtl to move him at the deadline, he isnt a rental and they would probably get a better deal if he was moved in the offseasn.
