Sakic has never done "overwhelming" at the deadline so it's more likely than not that he stays the course. But that third line is far better than what they have now and DeHaan gets JJ off the blueline, offering up better defense and keeps MacDermid far off the back end. If Sakic does what he usually does this time of year, this is a realistic, if understated, set of trades that makes them better while not breaking the bank.

Targets are true to form but he wouldnt be trading Kaut or Bowers if he really was staying true. He would be burning those 3rd and 4th round picks until the end of time

If they'd take that, sure.

Id still be happy with this. This team doesnt need an elite rental to win the cup. A couple upgrades to depth here and there for cheap is honestly fine, even if its less exciting than Giroux
