I can’t see the pens being interested in any of this…maybe Namestnikov deal. But the Canucks shouldn’t sell Garland. They just got him. The pens shouldn’t trade their 1st round pick cause they need to start filling the cupboards. The pens are a much better team with Zucker and I’d rather just keep Zuckers contract that ends sooner than take on Garland’s for such a long term. And just the fact I’d rather keep Zucker at this point then get diminished value eliminates the need for Garland. I think the pens will see how Zucker performs after the surgery. We are so quick to want to trade him but he really hasn’t had much of a fair shot here. He had 15 games where he got to play with Crosby and was amazing. When we returned from Covid nobody really got to practice with the team and he still looked solid on Malkin’s line, they just got **** down by a lucky Habs team. The following year Geno came in outta shape and they really didn’t get much offseason team practice again. Then he and Geno dealt with major injuries. This year Geno finally got surgery on that major injury and Zucker had surgery when Geno came back. I just don’t see them trading Zucker til the offseason. As much fun as it is to trade him in season. Only contenders will pay much for him and it will likely be that the pens will have to take problem contract back for him, where as in the offseason, they can probably avoid taking back a problem contract.
