I like the Leafs getting Mayfield. I don't see the need for Parise though. Our 5th line is quite strong and he would probably fall into the 5th or 6th line for the Leafs.

I would rather get Chara than Parise (Leaf fans hate me for that). 1st for Mayfield + Chara + 3rd round pick?

I don't think your trade to the Leafs is actually all that bad. Mayfield is on a great contract for this year AND next year.

I think its possible Leaf fans are more obsessed with Tavares leaving the islanders now then islander fans have ever been. Its been 4 years. Why is this a talking point still?

You're looking at things objectively. Teams do that and they don't win a playoff series for 20 years. Or in your case, a cup ever.

For example: Somewhat relative point given what a fellow idiot commenter has brought up: Leafs see Tavares, a Toronto native and elite player on free agent market. They don't need a center by any means, but they see Tavares as an objectively great player and they feel they HAVE to have him. They sign him. Now they haven't addressed their issues and no longer have 15% of the cap available to do so.

Simple concept. 12 year olds might play NHL franchise mode a similar way. You don't do things because they're objectively good. You do things because they're subjectively good. Common mistake that is made everyday in the NHL. The teams that make those mistakes don't win Cups or playoff series'.

Why are you complaining about leafs fans before you even publish the agm? Find that answer and it will answer mine

History. David Hume is a philosopher perhaps you've heard of. Through his philosophy, I know from experience that proposing a deal where the Leafs give up a valuable asset and don't receive a superstar in return, they get upset. So I knew what was coming. Hope that makes sense.

So your solution is to overspend in trade assets and acquire a player they don't need (Parise) and try to justify it because they haven't won a cup?

News flash: there's more than 1 way to win a cup. But overspending on a player isn't one of those ways.

Almost every fanbase in hockey has a gripe with Leaf fans. Tavares is inconsequential here. Not sure why you keep bringing him up.

Because that's why you're so mad at the leafs. We get it, must have been hard to watch the only franchise player your team has had in like 30 years leave you for another

Lol..

The Islanders haven't won a cup since 1983 and are sitting 25th in the league. Not to mention they are dead last in goals for. & you're trying to chirp Leafs fans?

Nice try kid. Have fun losing more games!

"quite better" yet they can't score a goal to save their season. You know who would help score more goals "quite better"... John Tavares tears of joy

at least the Leafs have made the playoffs every year since 2015. Can you say that about the Islanders?.. didn't think so.

It's also hilarious having people think I'm a Leafs fan in the first place.. never said I was.But you Islanders fans are something else. Yeesh.

If the Canucks had the success the islanders had the past three seasons (and all time) you’d be besides yourself. Same with Leaf fans. Fact. Keep throwing your stones from your glass house though. It’s what you’d do anyway if 2011 was any indication
